Transfusion Saved Life Of Mother And Premature Son
In New Jersey a Jehovah Witness mother and her premature son were saved by a blood transfusion over the mother’s religious objections. Mrs. William Anderson and her three pound boy Mitchell were reported in good condition after a Caesarean at Posack Valley Hospital. The case reached the U.S. Supreme Court, upholding a New Jersey ruling that protecting the unborn child outweighed the mother’s religious stance. A guardian authorized doctors to proceed if needed.
