Sheriff Probes Weekend Thefts At Several Greene County Homes

The Greene County Sheriff’s Department investigates break ins and vandalism over the weekend. Lonnie Funkhouse of Solsberry reports his residence broken into with his wife’s clothing stolen and damaged. Tim Street of Bloomfield reports a tractor in a Ridgeport field missing a battery and starter worth 100 dollars. Mark Russell of Solsberry Ite reports a tool box valued at 420 dollars stolen from a workshop on his property.

Indiana Twin Brothers Drown At Fish Lake

Two ten year old brothers Paul and Chris Purkal drowned near LaPorte after wandering into Fish Lake during a family outing. Their bodies were recovered from about five feet of water. The incident raised Indiana's weekend water death toll to four. Occasional showers were possible in southern Indiana with cooler temperatures expected statewide into the 70s and 80s for Tuesday.

GAO urges stronger role for Food and Nutrition Service

A research team found untapped geopressured gas and geothermal energy two miles below a Louisiana bayou. Oil begins flowing in Alaska pipeline to Valdez

A Standard Rate and Data Service report shows Greene County residents spent heavily on food and automotive equipment, totaling 39 percent of local retail business. Home consumption food outlets sold 12.964 million dollars, autos and related gear 14.833 million, with other sectors including general merchandise 6.41 million and apparel 2.919 million.
