United Press Dispatch reports Indiana recorded 188 deaths and 431 injuries at 7,977 upgraded grade crossings in 1927, ranking fourth in the nation for fatalities. Ohio led with 300 deaths, Illinois 205, and New York 193, with Louisiana highest per capita rate and Wyoming the lowest in fatalities and injuries.
