Julian R. Letot of Linton enrolls at Tri State College Angola for the summer quarter in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He is the son of Mrs. John W. Brock of St. Clair Shores Michigan, formerly of Linton, and will pursue a Bachelor of Science degree upon completion.
The Linton General Electric Little League team will practice at High School park this afternoon at five o clock. Managers advised players not to wear uniforms to the session.
Special to the Citizen reports Greene County maintains urban share near 32 percent, rising slightly from 32.0 to 32.6 percent since 1950. National trends show cities growing faster while farm populations fall 13 percent, yet Greene County gains per capita income from $963 to $1,262 after taxes, partly due to inflation and broader economic diversification.
The bribery conspiracy trial of Teamsters VP James R. Hoffa began in Washington D C with defense charges that the government used illegal wiretapping. Hoffa and Miami attorney Hyman I Eishbach face accusations of trying to plant a spy in the Senate Rackets Committee. The judge denied delaying the trial and allowed cross examination of witnesses over the wiretapping issue.
Mrs Rex Stone reported a water faucet in her kitchen dripping fire during a thunderstorm on Tuesday afternoon. She observed fire like Fourth of July sparklers and said no damage occurred to the sink or faucet at 389 I street northwest.

A cooler air mass with lower humidity eased Indiana’s heat today ending the season’s first hot spell. Temperatures drop to 50s early, with highs 76 to 84 today and a five day outlook showing a 3 to 7 degree above normal average through next Monday. Rain totals included 1.35 inches at Greencastle and 1.15 at Danville as storms moved through the midsection yesterday.
Greene County Council plans a special session at 10:00 a.m. on Monday July 8 in Bloomfield courthouse to review 99,920.99 in new appropriations. Major items include 34,070.59 from General, 62,800 from Highway, 3,950.40 from Courthouse Improvement. Projects cover per diem for officials, sheriff's vehicle purchases, courthouse drainage, bridge construction, and engineering fees with bond funds used for the roof project. Mr and Mrs David Buskirk announce the birth of their first child Steven Ray born at Freeman Greene County Hospital weighing eight pounds two ounces. Mother is Wilma Moore of Linton. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs John Moore and Mr and Mrs John Buskirk of Worthington.
