The opening of Beautiful Linton Park drew thousands for a formal ceremony led by Mayor E. V. Bull with prayer by Rev. Haley. Guy H. Humphreys of Bloomfield gave the keynote, recalling old Linton and praising a new, cleaner city with playgrounds and trees for children.
Miss Loral Hubbard returns from Indianapolis visits. Vincennes visitors call on Mr. and Mrs. Callahan. Ruby Fields and Grace Roach travel to Bicknell. Ruth Fields returns from Terre Haute. Bloomfield and Switz City residents visit Lyons families. Helen Frye returns from Bloomington for summer. May McCoy visits from Cincinnati. Greene County Medical Society meets. Loral Hubbard returns from Indianapolis. Visitors from Indianapolis, Vincennes, Bloomington, and Canton are noted among Lyons residents and relatives.
Scott, a delegate at large from Indiana to the national Republican convention in Kansas City, arrived home Sunday. The report recalls D. R. as the old Democrat Uncle Andy Humphus spoke of, and when asked how he liked the speech he replied that he went to like it. D. R. had the same potion on his Kansas City trip.
M. S. Spurling, living southwest of the city, brought five young chicken hawks to town this morning. He shot the mother bird on the Mrs. Dixon farm after the mother fought back. Spurlin plans to offer the hawks to the city park.
Miss Mary Blanche Shelton of Switz City and Walter Gerhardt Solomon Fehr of Toledo were married Saturday afternoon at 2 in St Matthew's Lutheran church New York City. Shelton, a Switz City High School graduate and Indiana University attendee, is a singer who has performed on radio and at functions. Fehr, son of Herman Fehr of Austin Texas, manages a Toledo wholesale house. They honeymooned in Europe.
Harry Scott was arrested Saturday night on an affidavit charging illegal possession of liquor. On appeal the case will go to circuit court later. Doris Schubla, arrested Saturday night, charged with illegal possession of liquor, will have her trial before Mayor Bull Wednesday at 1 p.m. Jesse Templeton, a World War veteran, was before Mayor Bull charged with intoxication. The mayor took the case under advisement. Templeton is suffering from gas inhalation from the war and may be sent to a government hospital for treatment.
