Clina E. Hasler has resigned as chairman of the Greene County Soil Conservation committee and Basil D. Archer, former vice chairman, is named chairman. Coy Williams becomes vice-chairman and Chester P. Bradfield is added as third member. Burl Russell is named office manager by the board.
Mr and Mrs John Stefancik of Linton rural route 3 welcomed a son born at 5 30 this morning weighing 9 pounds. The baby is unnamed and is the eighth child in the family.

Indianapolis June 16 UP The state highway commission announced the dismissal of 844 employees effective July 1 due to a highway department appropriation cut by the last legislature. The highway budget for personnel was reduced about 720000 to 1182000. This marks the second compulsory shakeup after more than 100 were dismissed May 1 to cut expenses.
Word of the death in South Bend of Mrs. Mary Robison former Lin ton resident has been received here. Mrs. Robison died at her home in South Bend at 9 00 o clock Thursday evening. She is survived by two daughters Mrs Sam Stanfield and Mrs Myrtle Bough both of Linton. Funeral services will be held at 2 00 o'clock Monday afternoon in South Bend with burial in that city.

He said no formal report on the peace conferences’ apparent failure had been received. The House upheld its appropriations panel in earmarking 125 million dollars for the Public Works Administration. It rejected 194 to 84 an amendment to strike the earmark and grant WPA the full 1.477 billion dollars sought by President Roosevelt for 1940.
In New York on June 16, testimony in a federal case identified Paul McNutt as having provided Buckner and associates access to confidential U S army reports about Philippine officials and psychology. Leo Walden testified the Buckner group aimed to rig defaulted Philippine railway bonds causing heavy investor losses.

Modesto California report says Hans Hansen age 77 was ejected by police from an underground burrow he dug beneath a warehouse. He lived there since 1929 storing a few groceries and reading cooking meals in a tunnel he carved.
