Three Federal Judges Seek Passage on Bill
A panel of three federal judges urged Gov. Gaylord Nelson to reconvene the Wisconsin legislature within 10 days to pass a fair and constitutional redistricting bill. They warned that if lawmakers stall, they will appoint a special master to draw new political maps for congressional and state districts. The judges stressed the legislature must reapportion as it has the duty to perform, noting the 1961 session has not technically adjourned and could be recalled.
