Blind veterans compete in a self organized bowling event at the local veterans administration center in Bath New York. They stage a spirited competition showcasing their skills and camaraderie within the veteran community.
The Missouri River breached levees along a 60 mile zone from Glasgow to Booneville flooding 450000 acres of farmland. The Mississippi crest moved 40 to 50 miles daily, with 190 evacuees from Skaskia and other towns. Red Cross counted 800 Illinois evacuees and 180 from Annada Missouri, while 8000 homeless in Missouri, Illinois, and Iowa. Fifteen drowned. Army engineers warned more danger as rains ceased and sandbagging continued.

Louis Mahan aged 54 of Jasonville died at 12 50 Tuesday at the home of his daughter Mrs Florence Dean 447 Gilbert avenue Terre Haute after a year of ill health. He leaves two daughters Mrs Dean and Mrs Juanita Gibson a brother Jesse Mahan of Indianapolis and a sister Mrs Bessie All of near Shelburn. Funeral 3 pm Thursday at the Gibson family home near Lewis with Rev Bert Sanders officiating. Burial Mt Pleasant cemetery. McClanahan Funeral Home Jasonville in charge.

Linton police warn that shooting within city limits is prosecutable after reports a horse owned by Charles Earle and a cow owned by Fred Templeton in West Linton were struck by .22 caliber bullets. Dogs in pens near the eastern part were also injured by boys using sling-shots.
