In May statewide patrol tests on 90,000 vehicles, 14 of 100 cars were defective. Supt. Frank Jessup said 58 percent of faults were rear end lights and signals. Of 12,671 failures, 7,325 had taillight issues, 2,821 improper headlights, and smaller faults included horn brakes glass wipers tires exhaust and mirrors. Linton area showed 2.7 percent defects.
