The Greene County Board of Commissioners opened bids for landfill and refuse collection for four years from Laverne Rollison and Rural Water Maintenance Co. One bid for landfill only came from M and S Excavating. Commissioners will study bids, with minor road, welfare, and facility items discussed.
U N Ambassador Andrew Young says President Carter still backs him despite criticism from Republicans and a Harris poll showing 49 to 19 percent think his statements offend other nations. He met with Carter to discuss attacks tied to his comments on dictatorships and U S policy in Africa.
