Re-assessment Deadline Set for Greene County Property Owners
Greene county property owners must appear before the Board of Review by June 15 to discuss adjustments in the 1950 assessed valuation. Mrs. Sarah Jane Gorby 81 of Dugger died at 3 30 this morning at her daughter's home after four weeks of illness. Born April 2 1869 in Hymera, she was predeceased by husband George Gorby in a mine accident. Survived by daughter Mrs Ross Wilson, brother George Sills of Plant City Florida, granddaughter Mrs Erma Jane Besheres. Funeral plans to be announced.

Ambushes Hit Shelton Family Leader Near Fairfield Illinois
In Fairfield Illinois two men attacked the Shelton gas station wounding business partner Dallas Wylie fatally injuring him while the questionably lucky Little Earl Shelton 34 escaped unharmed. Investigators found 30 caliber cartridges and shotgun shells at the scene and eight bullet holes in the car and service station wall. Wylie is father of five and has long stood with the Shelton family in their bootlegging era feud with Charley Birger’s gang. Little Earl has dodged four ambush attempts in the past year.

The Ring Brothers Wonderland miniature circus arrives in Linton Thursday afternoon and runs Friday and Saturday.
