Farmers Planning Big Day at Bedford

Farmers from across the region will attend an all day picnic and field day on June 12 at Moses Fell Annex farm near Bedford. The program includes field trips to explore experimental work, a women’s program, speeches, games, and ice cream for children. Highlights feature new hardy wheat varieties crossbred with Russian types able to endure severe winters, pasture experiments with Korean lespedeza, and an 80 acre apple and peach orchard testing sod versus cultivated plots. Aimed at showing profitable farming methods, the event invites families to a day at “Little Purdue” for south central Indiana.
