James Vorhees McCullough a Harrison township farmer filed a protest with more than 250 taxpayers and County Auditor Rolla Barnhart at Brazil asking the state tax board to reject the petition for a Ward county unit road. The protest argues the road linking State Road 59 to a state park and other routes is not a public utility. The county council had approved funds for most proposed roads, but dropped other gravel projects, including four miles in Eel River bottoms, as McCullough opposed the southern county project after his petition failed.
