The Citizen area SUBAREA 2 COUNCIL of the Southern Indiana Health Systems Agency will meet Thursday June 9 at 7 30 p m in the basement multipurpose room of Citizens National Bank. All SIHSA meetings are open to the public.
A Marion County grand jury condemned the state police investigation of the Anthony Kiritsis kidnapping. It said tape recordings were not destroyed as claimed and denounced the inquiry as insufficient. Separately, Lt. Thomas Donahue died after a fire that destroyed three houses, with arson charges filed against a suspect. A separate blaze at a Jasper area horse farm caused half a million dollars in damage and killed 23 horses, with owner Alvin C. Boxer suspecting arson.

A NAACP Legal Defense Fund spokesman says Supreme Court ruling leaves minority workers shut out of racially neutral seniority systems created before the 1964 Civil Rights Act, threatening union seniority fights.

The Pentagon reported the Soviet Union again tried to test a killer satellite to intercept space targets. Cosmos 909 and 910 were launched May 20 and May 23, with 910 failing and debris not fully formed. Analysts deem five tests since last year with mixed success and possible failures.
The Economic Opportunity Committee of Daviess Greene Knox and Sullivan Counties announces a Summer Lunch and Recreation Program at Linton Elementary School starting Monday June 6. It runs 11 weeks Monday to Friday with three hours of recreation and a Type A lunch for ages 3 through 13.
The Greene County Center of Katherine Hamilton Mental Health Center in Lyons will host an open house on June 5 from 1 to 4 PM to introduce staff. Center staff includes three full time therapists and a part time Terre Haute psychiatrist, with two weekly activity therapy groups. Dr. J.M. Petit, chief psychiatrist, is a Terre Haute native with degrees from Indiana State University and Indiana University and a residency at Barnes Renards Hospital.
