Advertising Rates And No License On Digging Worms
A jumble of ad rates appears with rates per inch for advertisements and reading notices, plus notes that obits and social cards pay regular rates. Jokes reference Senator Borah, Noah Webster, and a pirate tale about liquor values and bribery, ending with a pun about surprise.

Coal Banquet Invitations Issued by Indiana Governor
Indiana Governor Harry G. Leslie sent letters to coal industry figures inviting them to a dinner at the Claypool hotel in Indianapolis on June 1 to discuss boosting native coal consumption. About 150 to 175 industry and allied representatives will attend as guests of the governor, marking the first step after his plea for officials to use Indiana coal in tax supported buildings. Plans to stimulate the coal industry were drafted at a Lafayette meeting of operators, miners and engineers. The governor had previously vetoed a 1929 bill for a $20,000 study of Indiana coal uses, saying an appropriation was unnecessary.
