Bernard Higgenbotham 18 of North Hoosier street nearly drowned at Oxford pond near Oxford chapel two miles north of Brazil Indiana. Patrolman Walter Jackson, Ostvert N. James, Miller and Son ambulance service and Dr. Fred C. Dilley coordinated rescue with city life-saving gear failing. After 30 minutes of hospital care Higgenbotham began to recover.

Five men arrested in gaming raid near city rail yard

Sheriff Ray with Bloomfield deputies and city patrolmen surrounded a group of men alleged to have been rambling southwest of the city near the Pennsylvania branch railway Sunday afternoon around 3. Five were placed under arrest: Thomas Shoptaugh, James Hill Williams, Dennis Singleton, Vernonce, and James Haffley. They pleaded not guilty in mayor Inman's court and will be heard Wednesday at 7 p.m.
