Lyons Women's Group Meets at Parsonage

The Lyons Christian church Women’s Fellowship met at the parsonage with Mrs. Robert Richards as hostess. Faye Skemp led singing and devotion on the stewardship of life, stressing vigor in giving. New officers were installed with Mrs. Skemp as president and several others named to top roles.

Esther Rebekah lodge No. 229 members gathered at Mrs. Virginia Dyer’s home for a picnic supper. Mrs. Emma Rawley gave thanks, music filled the hour, and garden flower centerpieces decorated tables. Prizes went to Mrs. Ruth Hunter and Mrs. Josephine Miller. photos will appear in the lodge scrapbook for the fall district meeting.

Women of Moose Hold Meeting at Hall Here

Lin ton chapter No. 19 Women of the Moose held a meeting in the Antler room of the lodge hall Friday evening with Mrs. Freda Wilson College of Regents chairman in charge. Mrs. Mary Catherine Wade joined the Auxiliary as a member and both Mrs. Alice Bargar and Mrs. Wilson received tokens of achievement. Thirty-six members answered roll call, with attendance prizes to Mrs. Carrie Laughlin and door prize to Mrs. Ruth Dixon. Social hour featured games and angel pudding iced tea and coffee.

Mr and Mrs Frank Marsh of Dugger celebrate 52nd wedding anniversary at home due to Mr Marsh’s ill health. Married July 11 1900 in Bloomfield, they have lived in Dugger 40 years. He is a retired coal miner and they have four sons and two daughters.

Mrs Millie Dyer served as guest of honor at a birthday dinner near Worthington on Sunday for her 79th birthday. Lunch was on the lawn with a cake and floral decorations. The gathering included many family members from Indianapolis and Miami Florida among others.
