The 1863 winter case centers on Lavi Price and a boy driving cattle when they found a frozen body believed to be Blackwell of Crawfordsville. Blackwell had been shot through the neck and robbed. traced from Carlisle to David Shields residence where one man carried a rifle, prompting investigation by Sheriff Bill Mo.
