Restraining orders issued by Superior Court Judge Norman E Brennan bar further violence between strikers and Red Cab Co personnel. Seven strikers filed damage suits claiming beatings by company hired strike breakers while Red Cab alleged union representatives assaulted non union drivers during a six day walkout. Orders stay in effect until March 4.
Democratic members of the House Foreign Affairs committee praised Secretary of State Dean Acheson for his role at the Lisbon conference in promoting European unity and a western defense system. Republicans demanded concrete evidence of commitment before approving more U. S. aid. The closed door briefing covered North Atlantic Pact council sessions and Acheson planned a national address later tonight on networks CBS NBC Mutual and Dumont.
Mrs Paulina Tapscott age 80 of Terre Haute former Pleasantville and Carlisle resident died at 5 15 PM Thursday at St Anthony s hospital Terre Haute She is survived by husband Carl five daughters Daisy McCord Grace Bernon Berniece Williams Margaritte Price Melbourne Wells all of Gary three brothers John Benefiel William Benefiel Homer Benefiel and two sisters Ella Dunbar and Ada Bedwell The body was moved to Newkirk Funeral home Pleasantville Funeral arrangements to be announced later
An autopsy was performed on Florence S. Gardner 34 Michigan City wife of Dr. M. D. Gardner found dead in a station wagon in a cornfield eight miles east of La Porte. Police say preliminary findings indicate an overdose of drugs as the cause.
In Panmunjom a crisis threatens to derail armistice negotiations as allies and Communists debate excluding Russia from a neutral truce supervision commission. The U N command urges the Reds to yield, calling further debate futile, while a North Korean editorial labels opposition to Russia as defiance of the world.
Bloomfield rolled over Scotland 73 to 28 and Linton defeated Worthington 76 to 29 as the local tournament opened last night. This afternoon features Marco versus Solsberry at 1 15 and Jasonville versus Lyons at 2 30. Tonight presents Switz City facing Midland at 7 and Linton meeting Lyons at 8 15.

Lenning of Bloomfield says he will re sign as Greene County Republican chairman effective March 15 to devote full time to his duties as Bloomfield Brick treasurer and sales manager and withdraws from the Indiana secretary of state race. The county committee set a March 22 meeting to elect a successor and speculation swirls about possible candidates including Jack McIntyre Irvin Pryor and Crawford Parker.
William White 23 of Louisville Kentucky and Charles A Maiden 24 of Toledo Ohio were charged with grand larceny after Bloomfield Night Officer Fred Dean arrested them following a report of attempted robbery of Charles Hawkins Jr auto trunk. Wheel tire and four hubcaps found in their car. Preliminary bond set at 500 dollars.

Paul Haywood of Bloomfield will assume duties as Greene county prosecuting attorney tomorrow succeeding resigning John A. Brandon. Governor Henry F. Schricker appointed him Thursday afternoon to fill the unexpired term through Jan. 1, 1953. Haywood will aid in the April 8 murder trial of Ralph Groves, with Clay county prosecutors coordinating.
Mrs. C. W. Martin of Linton, county chairman, reports the 1952 Heart fund campaign is in its final week. Red heart canisters will stay in places of business in Linton and nearby communities until mid next week. She urges organizations to donate promptly.
The American Meat Institute reports wholesale pork prices are about one quarter lower than a year ago, pushing many pork products into bargain ranges. Retail declines lag due to continued higher costs for retailers, while sausage trim prices show substantial drops from last summer.

A meeting is set for 7 30 Monday evening at the public library to discuss plans for a Recreation hall in the basement of the Salvation Army hall. The facility would serve youths ineligible for the Linton Teen Canteen and may be refurbished with help from local volunteers. Experts approved the basement after inspection by the city engineer and a deputy fire marshal.
Elsie Ray Henderson was granted a divorce from Herman Davis Henderson in Greene circuit court at Bloomfield today. She receives custody of a 15 year old child and $10 weekly support, $75 attorney fees, and ownership of all household goods at her current residence in Linton.
Southern democrats rallied behind Sen. Richard B. Russell as a presidential candidate and left open the possibility of a southern revolt or third party. Russell avoided committing to supporting Truman and suggested the party platform remains unsettled, strengthening pressure on the Democratic convention.
Indiana weather forecasters warned March will arrive with a lion’s roar as up to six inches of snow may fall statewide. Mr and Mrs Gordon Griffith of San Francisco announce the birth of their daughter Judy on February 27. The baby weighed 6 pounds 8 ounces. She is the granddaughter of Mr and Mrs Clarence Gillett of this city.
