Personal news club lodge party and church items welcomed for the Linton Daily Citizen. The Society column notes items must be in the office by 11 a.m. to appear in that day's issue.
The Yaquina club was entertained at the home of Mrs. Cleve Mitchell Friday afternoon with nine members and one guest, Mrs. Glenn Helms, present. The usual business session was held in charge of the president after which games and contests were enjoyed. Bingo prizes were awarded to Mrs James Berl Morrison, Glenn Helms, Fannie Eskew, Joe Saushohn Booher and Phil Bennett. Mrs Cleve Mitchell won the club prize. The club will meet again in two weeks with Mrs Berl Morrison as hostess.
Announcement of the marriage of Dorothy Workman daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Burdsall of Lyons to Winston Murdock son of Mr and Mrs John Murdock of this city. The quiet ceremony took place Sunday evening February 28 at the Church of Christ with Rev G C Vincent officiating. The bride is Jyons high school class of 1929 graduate and the groom is a 1928 local high school graduate employed by Linton Milk. They plan to reside in this city.
The Loyal Helpers class of Lyons Christian church met at Mrs. Faye Holder’s home. They opened with singing and the Lord’s Prayer. They decided to serve lunch during March’s sectional basketball tournament and heard a program led by Mrs. Iva Perkins followed by refreshments for listed attendees. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Elizabeth Edwards’s home in Lyons.
Miss Ina Brewer acted as hostess for the W A W club at Dr and Mrs E V Bull’s home on East Vincennes street. A business session planned the twelfth anniversary celebration at Mrs Lou Fleetwood’s home on March 14 with committees named. Bridge games followed with high scores to Miss Mother Duhne and Mrs Charles Fulkerson and low to Mrs Joe Thompson amid sweet pea decor and refreshments.
The Ladies Fancywork circle celebrated its 24th anniversary at Mrs. P. O. Turpin's home with co host William Johnson. All but three members attended a luncheon featuring tomato au gratin and other dishes. The afternoon included oral and written contests among attendees.
The Collegiate program at the Grand tomorrow afternoon features Joe Penner Jack Oakie Ned Sparks Lynne Overman and about 150 beautiful girls. Frances Langford has an important role and sings in her own lovely way. The film centers on the charm school idea with Oakie as the college president and Langford as dean, plus a Metrotone News and a Charley Chase comedy.
Howard Hughes produced feature exposes racketeering across liquor traffic. Paul Muni stars with Anna Dvorak and a notable cast including Karen Morley Vince Barnett Osgood Perkins and Boris Karloff. Tomorrow's show also includes a Musical Act and a Colored Cartoon.
In Jasonville Indiana on February 20 Mrs. Joe Ransom sustained painful burns to her hand as the cord of an electric iron caught fire while she tried to smother the blaze. The incident interrupted a quiet morning at home and prompted immediate care.
Liam Talbott William Reynolds and Ili Mott with hostesses Mrs Turpin and Mrs Johnson Mrs Wes Newman will entertain the club in two weeks.
A special meeting of Linton Lodge No 560 F and A M is announced to confer the Fellow Craft degree at 8 p m. The session will occur at the lodge hall with eligible members invited to attend.

Thursday gatherings include a Girl Scouts reg session at 7 PM and a Socialist local meeting about the old post office at 7 30 PM The Quapaw council No 80 of Pocahontas meets at 7 PM Violet Rebekah No 812 gathers at 7 PM Greene County Post No 1162 VFW meets on East Vincennes Street at 7 30 PM Salvation Army holds a 7 PM prayer meeting with location to be announced later

Friday at seven p m the M E choir meets at the Quapaw church and the Improved Order Red Men lodge 143 holds a gathering at seven p m in the same area.
Warren Breeden of Bloomington, formerly of this city, is reported seriously ill at his home and will enter the Veterans Hospital in Indianapolis soon for treatment. His wife Elis will accompany him and care for him. Mr Bucederi is a brother of Mrs Frank Neill, currently at her brother's bedside. only immediate relatives may visit.
Mary Suzanne Garriott died at 9 15 p m Wednesday five days old. Surviving are the parents and the grandparents from the city and Milnes. Funeral was at two oclock Thursday at the Gamron residence with burial in Lebanon. Joe Russell injured at work in Peabody No 48 mine. Robert Greenway remains ill after nineteen weeks with rheumatic fever. Mrs George L Hinton Sr visits Indianapolis with daughters Mrs R W Mitchell and Mrs Walter Smith.
Bloomfield Indiana February reports keep busy with Mary Jo Bibos sixth birthday party at home of Mr and Mrs James Bibos attended by twenty three guests. A benefit bridge and program night sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary featured multiple prize winners.Bloomfield Conservation Club forms with charter members and officers named. Sixteen pairs of quail shipped for local distribution. Anna Barbara Hendren and George Huber announce December Detroit marriage, he a Detroit police captain. Various socials and visits noted among Bloomfield residents including bridge clubs and school weather disruptions.
Mr and Mrs Jess Crump of Louisville Kentucky are visiting Mr and Mrs Charles Anderson in town Mrs Crump formerly Miss Mary Kelly and a longtime member of the Freeman Greene County hospital nursing staff for a period of time
Jack Fordyce of this city travelled to Indianapolis today for business matters, meeting with local contacts to discuss ongoing commercial engagements.
Indianapolis reports a 13 percent rise in Indiana business volume for 1935 over 1934 based on a survey of 74 diversified firms. Total income reached 302,235,248 in 1938 compared with 286,309,653 in 1934, with many firms moving into the $1,000-or-better class and retail, wholesale, gas and power sectors posting gains. The report notes gains across manufacturing, newspapers, oil, and rail receipts, while a sobriety study critiques breath tests and warns alcohol odor alone is unreliable.
U S authorities report a Swedish professor’s ear blood test for alcohol as a potential method to determine drunkenness. The procedure includes weighing, pulse check, eye blink test, walking a line, hiccups, then a bloody ear sample treated with chemical mixtures and analyzed for alcohol content.
In Indianapolis on February 29 plans for the eighth annual Indiana air tour were advanced by the Indiana Aircraft Trade Association. About fifty airplanes join the yearly tour visiting over twenty Indiana cities. Frank Ball of Muncie chaired talks on aeronautics legislation slated for a likely state legislature special session. Major Charles Cox, Jr., regional airport advisor for the U S Bureau of Air Commerce, described proposals for a state aeronautics commission and WPA airport and air-making program developments in Indiana.
Delores Mae Baize daughter of Mr and Mrs Leslie Baize is recovering at the hospital from a leg operation after a fall while playing. She celebrated her eighth birthday yesterday in the hospital and received many presents from callers.
Miss LaVada Sparks of Farmersburg is visiting with Miss Virginia Holden of East Vincennes Street in a friendly social rencontre noting local town ties and ongoing greetings.
