Greene County Roads Debate Prompts Taxpayer Scrutiny

Daily Citizen calls Greene county taxpayers to investigate the so called harmful road situation. It questions $20,000 paid to Charley Davis and his organization, a drop in gravel road maintenance tax from 45 to 22 cents, and seeks details on court costs for removing Fred Carpenter, the 85,000 plus 40,000 state road transfer funds, plus political influence on the decision making. Corn Testing Urged For Farmers By Local Testers

Farmers wanting corn tested are urged to contact testers and arrange testing. A group with many old members and a few new ones held a meeting, reading minutes and planning programs on food groups. Speakers included Mrs Blanche Justus on meat value, Mrs Helen Slauter on cheaper cuts, and Mrs Cora Bump on meat use.

Seed corn germination tests by county agent audio

County Agent W D Sexson reports on seed corn tests from thirty one county farms. The crib selected samples showed eighty percent germination while field selected reached ninety percent in a recent completion. Variations ranged from fifty to ninety seven percent for crib and eighty to one hundred percent for field selections.
