Catherine Goshen aged 73 of Linton died unexpectedly at her home on Tenth Street Southwest at 4:00 this morning after five years of failing health. Born in Austria November 9, 1886, she immigrated to the United States at 14, lived with an uncle in Cleveland, and moved to Linton after her 1906 marriage to Steve Goshen. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. Survived by seven daughters Mary Brookshire Anna Bunyan Katherine Long Francis Dean Elizabeth Brinton Nell Adler Margaret Carr. one son Paul Goshen. 11 grandchildren including Billy Joe Goshen in the U.S. Army, and nine great grandchildren. Body to Welch and Cornett Funeral Home. calling after Wednesday. funeral arrangements to be announced.
In Indianapolis a court dispute arose over whether lawyers were in contempt for not bringing former Indiana officials Sherwood and Sayer to court before their transfer to Indiana State Prison to begin 21/4 year sentences. The men arrived at the prison Monday, prompting questions about their commitment and potential sanctions as Judge Garvin postponed ruling.
Corbett Parker 67 of Monroe City died after his eastbound car skidded on a slick curve on State Road 67 two miles east of Bruceville. Judy Ann Burress 25 of Sandborn and Darlene Due 22 of Westphalia were injured. Burress minor injuries, Due serious. Both treated at Good Samaritan hospital Vincennes.
In Bloomfield Greene circuit court three cases were heard. Lorene Phipps was granted a divorce from William Phipps. Geneva Brewer Stiffler sought rule to show cause on delinquent support against Richard William Brewer with a hearing set for March 4. David W. West ordered to pay 20 dollars by March 1 and 17 dollars weekly for his minor child’s support until further order, while being released on own recognizance upon prosecutors motion.

Edwardsport resident Edward R. Southard, 77, died at 8 15 this morning at his home. Born June 28 1883 at Orleans he was a Mud Pike Evangelical United Brethren church member. Surviving are his widow Lora Dell Rose Southard a daughter Mrs James Stinebaugh Martinsville route one two sons Charles Southard Edwardsport and Paul Southard Sandborn route one a sister Mrs Elmer Lanier Bedford 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two daughters and three brothers preceded him in death. A ballot by ballot recount of more than 213 000 votes is in progress in Indiana s 7th district to decide between George Chambers and Edward Roush. The Democratic controlled House subcommittee directs 13 General Accounting Office auditors and members in 10 counties. No outsiders are allowed in recount rooms and results will go to Washington for the House Administration Committee.
Neighbors spotted a blaze at the Alex Thompson residence in Vicksburg around 11:00 AM. Fire teams from Linton and Jasonville fought the flames, saved some belongings, but the five room dwelling was mostly destroyed leaving only the frame. Mr and Mrs Thompson and their young son were away at the time.
A postage stamp dealer in Frankfurt claims sorting stamps will end circulatory troubles and offers 25 000 unsorted stamps as a supposed cure for harried business executives.

William F Hasler 67 a well known farmer from the Lyons Newberry area died at Monroe Jackson hospital Hollywood Florida after a heart attack. He was born October 8 1893 in Newberry and lived most of his life in the area. Survived by his wife Nona Hammerickhouse Hasler two daughters Alice Bailey Opal Solliday two sons Garland and David a brother Cletus a sister Tressa and nine grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Jenkins and Sons Bloomfield forthcoming.
Fat Man's Club resumes Thursday evenings at the Linton High School gym from 7 to 9 PM open to adult males in the community. Athletic director Roy Williams says basketball volleyball and gymnastics will be offered and participants must bring their own gear. Last year 30 to 35 men attended weekly and organizers expect similar turnout.
Officers of the Alpha Delphian Club announced the meeting scheduled for tonight has been cancelled.

Indiana's highway death toll for 1961 rose to 130 after two fatal crashes. Lewis Wilsons of Butler died when he fell from a moving fuel truck on Butler Street as driver Kenneth Carnahan delivered. Carl M. Weddle of Warsaw died later from injuries from a February crash near Mentone.
