Robert Hayes 96 Former Linton light plant head dies
Robert Hayes age 96 former superintendent of the Linton Municipal Light plant died at 8 20 PM Monday at his home after a four month illness. He served in Spanish American War Troop I Fifth Cavalry and leaves a widow, a son Guy Hayes of Linton, a stepson Harold Graves of Indianapolis and three grandchildren. Funeral at 2 PM Thursday at the family home with Rev. O E Haley. burial in Fairview cemetery.

State sales tax declared dead in Indiana budget fight
Indianapolis February 25 Republican leaders called the three per cent sales tax a dead pigeon this session and said they would slash the biennial budget to avoid new taxes. Rep Roy J Harrison said the choice is between higher gross income taxes or a straight jacket budget with a small deficit in 1943.
