Funeral at Bethany church Sunday at 2 pm with Rev David Squires officiating burial in family lot nearby.
City attorney M Swink, dubbed the Pied Piper of Woodruff, set a rat trap intended for one rodent per catch. The trap caught two rats the first night, three the second night, and finally three on the third night, totaling eight rats.

Don Lash, renowned distance runner and Indiana State Police member, headlines two Linton events next Wednesday. He will speak at Linton Stockton High School in the afternoon and headline a safety patrol night at the Elks lodge on North Main, with a banquet honoring patrol members.
Indianapolis reports the 28th annual Indiana high school basketball state tournament begins March 2 with sectional rounds in 64 centers. An accident near Linton on Feb 6 led to William Stancombe of Bedford being fined $1 and costs for parking a truck on state road 54 near the 59 junction without warning flags. Stancombe said he was about to place the flags when the collision occurred with a car driven by Kenneth Marsh of Dugger. The Marsh brothers were riding in the car, which suffered extensive damage. Greene County farmers may opt to treat small wheat or corn allotments under 8 acres as general soil depleting crops for payments, a provision of the 1939 farm program announced by Lina E. Hasler. The plan allows non allotment status for crops under 8 acres with payments at general crop rates and no deduction for the crop unless acreage exceeds 8. If allotments are exceeded by choosing non allotment, price adjustments or loans are not available for the crop.
Jimmie Mears a 15 year old admitted 14 robberies in Linton over three weeks and the case was moved from the City hall to Greene circuit court in Bloomington after a preliminary hearing. The sentence on petit larceny was postponed by agreement of Mayor E V Bull and Prosecutor John Todd.
Police charged Willie Hope with entering a house and removing nine doors from hinges for sale in an alleged burglary. The incident involved crime at a residence in Columbia.
Miss Jean McLenen, 58, was arrested in Pasadena on a charge of violating the anti fortune telling ordinance after allegedly telling the fortune of Policewoman Anita Taft and accepting $1 for the reading.
Mrs Rilla Harrell a 47 year old Marion housewife was found guilty of manslaughter in the death of Paul Bartholomew La gro high school principal and athletic director after a 15 hour jury deliberation. Manslaughter carries a penalty of two to twenty one years. In San Francisco Paul V McNutt United States Commissioner to the Philippines was reported due March 4 from Manila likely tied to his Democratic presidential candidacy and meetings with Indiana Democrat Frank McHale who heads McNutt clubs.
Lin ton Stockton squad opened strong but Sullivan High's Golden Arrows rallied to defeat the Miners 55 to 26 in the season finale. Sullivan led 20-14 at halftime and extended the margin in the second half as Beasley and Clarkson propelled the Arrows to the win.
Recreation facilities in Linton were surveyed to count participants spectators and hours in table tennis roller skating crafts and social games. Total 294 hours 5919 participants 1816 spectators. leaders include Bert Brown Guy Clayton Francis Earles Lloyd Gilligan and others.

Unemployed 18 year old Mikel McMillan, described as brunette, heaved a rock through a police station glass door in San Diego claiming she was broke hungry and behind in her rent. She was jailed on a charge of malicious mischief after police provided food and lodging.
In a tight time-out filled game the Miners failed to score while Sullivan edged them 35 to 26. The curtain raiser saw Sullivan reserves rout the Miners B team 37 to 14.
At Bosler Wyoming on February 25 seven cars of Union Pacific Pony Express derailed on the main line sending dozens to area hospitals and some to Salt Lake City. Among the injured is Mrs. W U Jager of Des Moines Iowa. A few passengers are reported critically hurt.
The Linton Welders junior high boys beat Carlisle 23 to 20 in Sullivan County. It was the Welders sixteenth and final game of the season. Guy Hamner led with nine points before fouling out. Ridgeway had 10 for Carlisle. Greene County plans a county grade tournament, the third to be hosted by the organization with Linton defending champions.
William H. Stewart, superintendent of the Sherwood-Templeton mining company, transferred his residence to Indianapolis yesterday. He will retain his post in Linton while moving closer to company affairs. His son William Stewart Jr and Mrs Stewart move from 489 First Street Northwest to 645 A Street Northeast.
Miss Esta McDonald of Indiana Central College Indianapolis is in Linton for the weekend social and local visits.
