Linton women in colonial dress performed old songs while Mrs Hamilton sang Only a Rose with piano accompaniment. rosebud corsages were given to officers and regent.
The Kings Heralds of the First Methodist Church will meet at 2 oclock Saturday afternoon with Miss Phyllis Talbott of 189 D street north west. Members are asked to bring money for subscription.
Mrs. Louisa Lund 65 wife of Ben Lund of near Cloverdale died at home. Born in Greene county she was a member of Corinth Baptist church. Surviving are her children Madge Welton Faye Ellis Darrell and Charles Lund three brothers Elmer Cooper and James and a sister Hattie Bledsoe. Body with Welch and Cornett funeral home in Linton. Funeral arrangements to be announced later.
Special judges will be chosen Monday to hear evidence in State of Indiana versus William Henry and Tillman J. Bough, both facing embezzlement charges. Trials set for March 7 and March 21 in Bloomfield court, with a panel of local attorneys named as potential judges. Henry and Bough recently posted bond after shortages were reported. Bough is a former Greene County clerk and Henry a former Greene County recorder.
Public notice says the local library will close at 5 30 p m on weekdays and 7 p m on Saturdays. Readers are advised to plan book returns accordingly.
Linton lodge members plan to travel to a district booster meeting in Olney Illinois on Sunday. The Wa bash Valley district includes ten lodges and members are asked to meet at 9 AM in the local club room for transport to the event.

Eskel Beasley of Bloomfield speaks on Legislative Benefits for All Veterans. Hans Thiesen leads a chili supper attended by all ex service men.
Mrs Cora Lind 68 wife of Thomas Lind of Bethel north of Sandborn died at home at 3:50 AM She was born November 2 1873 and married November 2 1899 Surviving are husband son Dennie and three sisters Funeral arrangements set with Rev J N A Downey officiating at Bethel church burial in nearby cemetery.
The local fire department made a run today to the Claude Sipes home on First and D streets northeast. A small roof fire caused little damage before firefighters extinguished it.
Attorneys for James Dalhover, last of the Al Brady gang, argue he was improperly tried in Hammond where he was convicted of slaying Indiana State Police officer Paul Minneman and sentenced to electrocution. The U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals took the plea under advisement. The same day in Washington, the House labor committee moved to draft its own wage hour bill, despite rules committee objections, with unresolved disputes over a maximum work week and minimum wages and another meeting planned for next Tuesday.
President Roosevelt stated that after twenty five years of tests the large super-dreadnought battleships remain the top defense for the navy. He joined the congressional debate on battleship vulnerability to air attack and signaled support for building additional capital ships.
France's government seeks a confidence vote amid European tensions and fear of straining the British French alliance due to Britain’s overtures to Italy. Premier Andre? attempts to secure a mandate to steer foreign policy as deputies debate. London reports Viscount Halifax named foreign secretary, with R A Butler as undersecretary.
In Tucson on February 25 General John J. Pershing 77 year old WWI commander rallied from a coma after a stimulant injection. His chauffeur and longtime aide Sergeant S. C. Schaeffer joined him in the sick room and the general recognized him with a quip about his name.
The Linton Welders beat Lyons graders 25-6 in the A game and 21-11 in the B game. Steele led Welders with nine points, Hoole five, and Shelton topped Lyons with four. This extends Welders season to seventeen victories. Lyons to face Linton again next week ahead of Greene county tournament plans.
Roosevelt said in their conference with High Commissioner Paul V McNutt they had only scratched the surface and would continue talks tomorrow. McNutt began a series of meetings to decide whether to extend his term and may reveal plans for future campaigns as he studies a joint expert committee on long term Philippine programs.
Harold Veller of Linton and six others tied to a gang accused of robbing railroad depots and freight cars across Paragon, Linton, Sullivan and surrounding towns. Veller moved from Greene county jail in Bloomfield to Indianapolis to face federal grand jury action. total losses valued at about $10,000.
Authorities investigated the bombing of O. B. Soucie's home in Terre Haute Indiana business agent for the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 846. No injuries were reported. Police seek whether the device was placed near the house or fired from a passing car. Mrs Soucie said her husband was away and she slept in a rear room.
The Asbury quartet of Wilmore Kentucky will sing at 2 30 Sunday afternoon in a concert at Lin ton First M E Church public invited. The quartet has broadcast on many radio stations including WHAS Louisville Kentucky A large crowd is expected to attend the event.
The United States notified Japan that American nationals may reside in China and that Japan will be held responsible for any injury or property damage caused by its military actions. Ambassador Grew was instructed to tell Tokyo that warnings about imminent operations did not lessen Japan’s accountability. In Shanghai, a Japanese force pressed toward Lunghai rail line and reportedly captured Kinsiang amid Chinese defenses. Tokyo parliament adjourned after a fiery debate over a wartime mobilization bill.
Eight senior Linton basketball players will make their final Linton uniform appearance as they face Reitz High School in Evansville this evening. Coach Goodman expects a strong showing against a top southern Indiana team with a chartered bus carrying fans leaving at 3 45 p m.
