Local Great er Linton club and other groups plan a housing survey to map vacant lots, locate owners, and connect prospective builders with locations. The effort targets about 100 new homes with guidance on financing under the federal act, stressing credit and equity.
A deceased man received a $30 prize at the Frankford theatre. The audience voted the winnings to his widow as the recipient.

Chinese aircraft attacked For mosco on the Japanese coast with eight planes in the squadron. The raid on Taihoku and Shinchiku caused significant property damage and killed about ten people with thirty wounded. Japan recalled three top officers in China amid U.S. protests over conduct of troops.
The Indiana State Board of Health announced a new state wide restaurant inspection program covering 8710 eating places. It will take effect April 1 after approval by the Indiana Restaurant Association. Restaurants will be inspected graded and placarded to inform patrons of health status with fines or imprisonment possible for non compliance under state law.
About seventy five members from churches of the Linton association gathered at the First Baptist church for a B Y P U rally. The program featured the Smiling Four from Lebanon, the Sweeney brothers from Dugger, and Olive Branch B Y P U solos. Rev Graves of Jeffersonville gave the main address and Mrs Grace Cassidy, state president, spoke about the upcoming conference in Jeffersonville May 13 14 15.

INDIANAPOLIS Feb. 23 Any chance Senator Frederick Van Nuys would gain Democratic renomination support faded as former governor Paul V. McNutt did not intercede and Indiana leaders predicted his defeat. McNutt did not advocate for Van Nuys and Gov Townsend announced Van Nuys had "licked himself."

Nancy E. Dawson 93, of Burns City, mother of Mrs. Andrew Beveridge of Linton, died Tuesday at her daughter’s home. Born in Ohio, she moved to Greene county at age ten and lived in Linton for thirteen years. Survived by three daughters and one son. husband and five children predeceased her. Funeral Thursday in Burns City with burial at Kentucky Ridge cemetery.

Frank C Smiley known in Linton as a fraternal figure died at his North Main street home after a nervous breakdown and despondency. He was 36 and had recently returned from Cadiz sanitarium to work at Gilmour, with funeral arrangements pending.
