George Nolting 76, lifelong Nine Mile resident and farmer, died suddenly at 5:30 am Saturday at his home four miles northeast of Linton. Born March 21, 1877, he was married to Sophia Tendick Nolting on April 23, 1911. Survived by wife, three daughters Katherine, Alice Kjelland, Ruth Dankert, two sons Albertus and Everett, two brothers Frank Nolting and others, and three grandchildren. Funeral at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home. Rev. Adolph Stoerker to officiate. burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Daniel Ivan Pettit of Elnora a railroad camp cook is found dead in Terre Haute with heart attack as cause. He leaves a widow Lucille Pettit three step sons one step daughter and four sisters. Funeral set for Tuesday at Elnora Methodist church with burial at Walnut Hill cemetery.
The Academy of Friendship of the Women of the Moose will hold a meeting at the Moose hall at 7 30 Wednesday evening with Mrs Alice Barger as hostess Those attending are asked to bring a gift for the contest.
Albert Shake of Linton announced his candidacy for Greene County Councilman representing the Fourth district on the Democratic ticket. He has three years on the council, 34 years in Greene county, and works for Fairview Collieries at the Mnnehaha mine.
Mrs. Mary Jane Bartlett of Jasonville died at 3:30 AM Saturday in Freeman Greene County Hospital after a heart attack. Funeral services were held at McClanahan Funeral Home with Rev. C. E. Baker. burial in Peavey Cemetery. She was born April 28, 1874 in Washington County Ohio and survived by husband John Wesley Bartlett two sons Donald and Leland two daughters Lucille Stockrahm and others along with eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. One son Curtiss Bartlett is deceased.
Residents are reminded a Founders Day program will be at the high school auditorium at 7 30 tonight. The event is planned by the Parent Teachers Associations of Central Northwest Ward and Northeast Ward schools in Linton featuring novelty dances, vocal numbers by the high school girls ensemble and a speaker J Earl Bales. Committees include Mrs Florence Buckner Mrs Victor LeFebvre and Mrs Jack Allen.
Commodore Holston a 67 year old retired farmer from Lewis route one was killed instantly at 9 15 Saturday night when struck by an auto along state road 48 west of Jasonville near the Keene Clay county line. John Borders of West Hymera drove the vehicle. headlights impaired his view as another car approached from the west. Holston was near the highway edge on the west side and died from a broken leg and internal injuries. Coroner George Reifenberg ruled the death accidental. He lived with daughter Mrs Everett Sparks and leaves two grandchildren. Body taken to McClanahan Funeral Home Jacksonville with funeral Wednesday at 1 00 p m conducted by Rev Ernest Nicoson at Friendly Grove cemetery.

Walter Dove 94 retired farmer died at 6:35 Friday at his daughter Mrs Glen Denton’s home in Newberry. Funeral Sunday at Newberry Methodist Church officiated by Rev R P Hawkins and Rev Kenneth Burns. Burial in Slinkard. Born January 1 1860 in Tusco County Ohio, he lived much of his life in Davies County. Survived by daughters Mrs Denton Newberry and Mrs Mytle Johnson Elnora, sons Charles Dove Elnora and Marshall Dove Odon, 12 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. Wife Mary C. Dove died July 6 1932. Jenkins and Sons Funeral Home in charge.
Otto Gentry 65 of Boonville, former Warrick county sheriff and two term county auditor, died Friday night at St. Marys Evansville after a brief illness. He was a Dunlite Coal land agent. Survived by wife Anna and son Aaron, manager of the Cine theater in Linton. Funeral set for 2:00 Tuesday at Barnett and Son Funeral Home Boonville.
A cyclone in New South Wales killed 18 to 20 people and caused 2.25 million dollars in property damage. The disaster stranded thousands, cut communications, wrecked homes and bridges, destroyed cattle, and halted transport as emergency crews used boats and air drops to deliver aid.
Mrs. Drusilla Rusher 86 of Paxton died at 7 45 Sunday morning at Glenburn Rest Haven. Born in England she came to the United States at age five. Survived by two sons Charles and John Hancock both of Paxton a daughter Lena Booker of Paxton six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements by Newkirk Funeral Home with services at Paxton Church of Christ Tuesday at 1 PM and burial in Providence cemetery.
Funeral services for Mrs. Julia Seidel Hamlin of Linton were held this afternoon at the old Sylvania church east of Bloomfield with Rev. Fred Ault officiating. Burial followed in Bingham cemetery near Solsberry.

Henry Ellingsworth of Jasonville aged 83 died at 8:00 Saturday morning at Glenburn Rest Haven in Linton after three years there. He previously farmed east of Jasonville for many years and is survived by nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2:00 Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Bert Sanders officiating at Scaffold Prairie cemetery east of Midland.

A Lyons farmer Dewey Lester Brown 22 died in a state road 67 crash four and a half miles north of Worthington. Lovell Spice 45 of Bloomfield faces possible reckless homicide charges after a southbound pickup collided with Brown’s northbound tractor trailer. Spice was injured and in hospital. Witnesses said Spice traveled at about seventy mph and was in the wrong lane at the curve. Coroner inquest pending. grand jury possible. Brown was born January 28, 1932, in Washington Township and survived by family. services held at Paxton Methodist church with burial at Webb Cemetery.
A band of 300 South Koreans blocked a railway near Chinchon to halt a train carrying 217 Indian troops homeward. U S infantry with bayonets dispersed the demonstrators, delaying the train 30 minutes before continuing to Inchon. Indian troops later boarded the Jamalurg ship at Inchon harbor.
James Lewis Mason of Perry Georgia formerly of Dugger was fined 80.25 dollars by Linton Mayor for an accident at the intersection of state roads 45 and 157 near Scotland. A tractor trailer carrying 21,000 pounds of canned beans and vinegar overturned after brake failure and load shift. Damages were about 1200 dollars. Mason lacked a Public Service Commission permit a vehicle registration and a valid chauffeur license.
The Welder's Mothers club will hold a meeting in the biology room at the high school at 7:30 PM Thursday. Mothers of all cheerleaders and junior high boys in sports are urged to attend to discuss banquet plans.
