Mrs Myrta Poe delightfully entertained members of the Mt Mellick club at her home Friday afternoon. After a short business session the club enjoyed bingo with George Washington birthday refreshments for three guests and several members. Regrets were received from several members. Al Kinkade of Indiana university is home over the week with his agents. Miss Virginia Wright of Bloomington visited in the city. Mr and Mrs James Duane and their little son visited with Elsie Hill. Ritter Howard of Indiana university was in Linton Friday afternoon. Frank Melonald, student at Indiana university, visits over the weekend.
The Onward Bible class of the United Brethren church met Friday at Mrs. Adam Topping’s home on A street southeast. After business, a special hour featured contests with prizes won by Mrs. Elmer Flinn Mrs. Charles Duncan and Mrs. Cliff Walker. Refreshments for four guests and members followed in celebration of Washington’s birthday.
The First Baptist church youth group in this city held a Leap Year party with twenty four members present. Activities included games and contests followed by refreshments served to Vivian and Mary K Dunning Ila Robertson Myr and Mrs Thomas Lee Mary Esper Armstrong Orlan Trinkle Freida Trinkle Marvin Taylor Mrwj and Mrs Samuel Lynn Mildred Harbett Florence and Ruth Sharp John and Nthel Corbin Toiny Sherer Clarence Wolford Juniusd Tawkins James Brister James Clayton Oletha Moss Mrs Omar Dodd and Mrs Mattie Hobbs.
Mrs. Harry Miller entertained twelve members of the L A club at her home Thursday afternoon. The lives of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, celebrated in February, were presented by Mrs. Daniel Shonk and Mrs. Fay Smith. During the social hour the club prize was drawn by Mrs. Clarence Tweat. Hostess prizes went to Mrs. Rex Hoffeditz, Mrs. Fred Nolting and Mrs. Coester Park. Dainty refreshments closed the evening. Mrs. Chester Jolars will host in two weeks.

The Chieateth Council of Pocanontas will meet at 7 p.m. with Metropolitan Lodge No. 193K of P. following at 7:30 p.m. as Boy Scouts in regards to a session starting at 7 p.m.
Gift Scouts meet in regular session at 7 30 p m at the old post office. Salvation Army prayer gathering at 7 p m at the home of Mr and Mrs Robert Kirkleyes. Quapaw Council No 80 of Pocahontas holds 7 p m meeting. Alpha Delphian club at library 7 30 p m. Greene County Post No 1162 Veterans of Foreign Wars on Hast Vincennes street at 7 30 p m.
Tri Kappas meet at the library at 7 30 p m while string band reheares at Salvation Army quarters. Beginners class at 7 p m, advanced class at 7 30 p m. Tagles lodge at hall at 7 p m Elks lodge at home at 8 p m Unity lodge No 627 at 7 30 p m O F at 7 30 p m Rotary luncheon at Saron Reformed church at 2 15 p m Royal Neighbors meet at 4 80 p m Christian Ladies Aid meet at church for afternoon tay meeting unite club with Mus Carrie Foole at 2 15 p m
Women League will meet for an all day session with Mrs. W. A. Shanklin at 270 P Street Northwest. Faith Temple No. 42 Pythian Sisters will convene at 7 30 p.m. Hiawatha Club meets at Red Men Hall for an all day gathering. American Legion post hosts at home at 8100 p.m. Loyal Order of Masons No. 1484 meets at 7 30 p.m. on Christian church grounds. All members urged to attend Baptist choir practice at 7 30 p.m. at the church.
Friday evening events list choir practice at the church at seven o clock followed by the Quapaw tribe No 143 Improved Order of Red Men meeting at seven o clock local time.
In Bloomfield on February 23 Os Calvert's residence on North Washington street opposite Grand View cemetery was destroyed by fire after noon. Water mains were frozen hampering firefighting. part of the structure was saved. Also noted is the marriage of Miss Helen Calvert of Calvertville to Chaney of Bloomfield in Vincennes on February 15 with Rev. James H. Wilcher officiating.
Miss Ruby Lankford of Sandborn entertained with a bridge party at her home on Wednesday evening celebrating the marriage announcement of Miss Maye Niersic of Marco to Edgar Menke of Westphalia on the silver wedding anniversary of Miss Nierste's parents. High score prize went to Mrs W P Stoelting with Miss Mildred Buckles as consolation and Miss Maye Nierste as traveling guest. Refreshments were served to attendees including Messrs W P Stoelting Manfred Core Paul Nierste Conrad Stewart and numerous ladies.
In the Jacoby four team event a hand led to varied scores. North sat with partner while East West vulnerable. Our side defeated a small slam in no trumps but partners bid only 4Spades, finishing second for the evening. Other tables saw 4Spades make six, or 6NoTrumps clear top scores.
Waneta club members met at Mrs Elsie Hilton First Street Southwest for a George Washington party. The regular business session followed by social hourly activities, contests with prizes to Mrs L Nance, refreshments of fruit jelly, whipped cream, coconut cake and coffee, small favors of silk flags and George Washington hats. Attendees included Mrs Don Keller, Mrs Ross Johnson, Mrs Stewart Burress, Mrs Fannie Cody, Mrs Mary McAlister, Mrs L Nance, two guests Mrs Magime Coakley and Mrs Johnson, and hostesses. The club will meet again in two weeks at Mrs Nance home with Mrs Raymond Wiggerson hosting.
Mrs Carl Donie hosted a Bide A Wee Club gathering at her home in the city. Guests played games, with Mrs Glen Smith and Mrs John Madison among top scorers. Mrs Arthur Taylor and Mrs Halden Chaney won low scores. Mrs Arthur Tarkin won the penny drill prize. Washington's birthday themed refreshments with rosebuds and tiny silk flags complemented the decor. Attendees included Haldon Chaney Frank Taylor Arthur Taylor Glen Smith Roscoe Dodd Arthur Harbin and Mrs Johan Madison plus the hostess.

The Women’s Relief Corps met at Red Men’s hall on Thursday night. After the business session a program honored George Washington’s birthday with music by Virginia, Bobby Marbin, and Miss Ruth Friedman. Mrs Alma Anderson gave a life of Washington sketch. prizes went to Miss Virginia Harbin, Mrs Ellie Cook, and Mrs Mary Pritchard. Refreshments followed.
