Gilbert B. Summerville 18 Lyons stopped on Highway 54 east of Linton to turn left. Walter L. Pilant 18 Lewis and Carl D. Corbin 47 Farmington collided after a Corbin hit Pilant, causing extensive damage. Corbin pleaded guilty to DUI and following too closely, fined 62.50, license suspended. Trooper Gene Gastineau investigated.
A minor explosion at the Bartholomew County Hospital construction site caused $1,200 damage and second degree burns to two men, John Black Burn 46 Columbus and Homer Bowling 24 Salem, after a bottled gas shed ignited when a bottle was dropped. Also damaged were three cars a house trailer and a temporary office.
City leaders consider a housing plan with commitments from the housing authority chair and plan commission chair Warren Oaken. The plan would be reviewed by a consultant from St. Louis who could visit Linton before a final vote. A March 1 1967 filing deadline pressures a decision with incomplete facts.
