Ren Hartman was the sole Linton bowler to crack par with a 602 three game set at the local alleys. Timber Wolves A Hartman 417 L Jones 540 A Laughlin 188 R Hartman 602 led the team to a 1 2 record in a night of four listed squads.
An American war crimes tribunal at Nuernberg convicted Marshal Wilhelm List and Lt. Gen. Walter Kuntze of war crimes for mass civilian executions in the Balkans. Six other officers received prison terms from seven to twenty years while two were acquitted for lack of evidence.
Amy Lou Doyle 59, former leading lady in Doyle Stock company and Eddie and Amy Doyle vaudeville duo, died Tuesday night at her Worthington home. Born January 26, 1889 in Bowling Green, she left a long show business career and was a member of Worthington Eastern Star. Surviving are husband Eddie Doyle, mother Sue Brown, and sister Mrs. John Owen. Funeral Friday at Myers Funeral Home.
Ray Winters and Noble Cox of Linton paid fines of one dollar each in Linton Police Court for parking in front of a theater, violating local ordinances.
W N Springer of Dugger paid a $1 fine and costs after pleading guilty to public intoxication in Greene circuit court. Bloomfield Marshal Jim Fitzpatrick arrested him for insisting on admission to the Greene county poor asylum in Bloomfield.
Three suits against Griffin Realty Corporation of Worthington were filed in Greene circuit court at Bloomfield. Damages of 3000, 3000, and 2800 were sought by the Rodenbecks, the Lucases, and the Weavers respectively for faulty house construction. A divorce support hearing ordered 20 dollars weekly. Raymond Harris pled guilty to residential burglary near Linton and received six months at the Indiana State Penal Farm. Two new suits were filed: Ephraim Wallace vs Lois Wallace for divorce and Charlotte Purcell vs John Dermott and Beulah Dermott in ejectment.
Chicago reports that 100000 CIO United Packinghouse Workers members voted to strike against major meat packing plants. Jerusalem notes three British soldiers shot dead in downtown at 2 30 pm. Detroit says Kaiser Frazer halted production for a third time in four days and sent home 8500 workers due to an unauthorized walkout on the assembly line.

Authorities believe a meteor exploded high in the atmosphere over Kansas causing a blast that rattled windows and frightened residents across Kansas Nebraska and Oklahoma. A bluish white smoke trail stretched across the sky before the 5 01 pm explosion over Norcatur Kansas with thousands hearing the rumble and seeing debris.

Detroit reports Bo McMillin resigns after 26 collegiate seasons to become general manager and coach of the Detroit Lions. The deal likely spans five years at about 30 000 dollars annually, pending Indiana release from a seven year contract. Indiana officials indicate willingness to grant release.
In the Wabash Valley high school night games Dugger defeated Midland 39 to 37 at Dugger gym as Linton’s 22 point forward led Midland scorers. Bloomfield edged Loogootee 39 to 37 at Bloomfield with R White scoring 14. Gerstmeyer lost to Wiley in a rout, 50 to 25, in Terre Haute as the Gerstmeyer team faces Linton next Friday. The Dugger reserves won 32 to 30 in overtime.
Walter R. Mybeck former Lake county clerk declares his bid for the Democratic nomination for governor of Indiana. The announcement was sent by Bartel Sandstra Lake County Democratic chairman in a letter to county and district leaders. Observers note his name had circulated as a potential candidate for months.
In Washington on February 19 Republicans blasted President Truman's China aid plan as ineffective without military funds. Truman sought 510 million for food fuel and fertilizer and 60 million for reconstruction. House moves to trim 2.5 billion from the budget while min wage may rise from 40 to 60 cents.

Mrs Dollie Cline of Lyons and Mr Luther Lent, Mr Charles Lee of Linton, and Mrs Jesse Jones admitted for treatment Wednesday. Mrs Lucy Mae Barton of Worthington had major surgery today. William R Lucas of Nine Mile Community admitted for treatment. he sustained lacerations to his left foot cutting wood. Mrs Bertha Haltom dismissed today. Mrs Mildred Hanson of Solsberry went home today.
Jeremiah Jerry Meredith a 76 year old retired blacksmith of Jasonville died at his home after a long illness. Survived by widow Bessie and ten children including Jerry Lex and Noah. two sisters and four half brothers. services at Assembly of God Jasonville with Rev Zella Anthony. burial Ashcraft Chapel east of Bloomfield.
The Dun & Bradstreet wholesale food index for the week ended Feb 17 fell 7 cents to 6.76, the lowest since Sept. 2, with seven items up and 14 down. Among declines were wheat, corn, beef, butter, raisins, and coffee. gains appeared in oats, hams, lard, sugar, and cottonseed oil.
Russell Matthews aged 53 of Tallula Ill died Wednesday afternoon. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 PM. He is a brother of Mrs R M Vincent of Linton. Mr and Mrs Vincent departed for Tallula this morning.
The Indiana High School Athletic Association released the sectional regional and state tourney schedules. Linton hosts the Linton sectional opening Feb 26 with Scotland, Switz City, Lyons, Bloomfield and Worthington in first rounds. Sullivan hosts first rounds with Fairbanks, New Lebanon, Carlisle, and others, leading to regional and state finals on March 20. Officials named are Cecil Bosstick, William Schaefer, Gilbert Smith, Roy Brann, Hubert Thomas, and A. M. Franklin.
