George W. Helderman Dies at 74 a Prominent Oaktown Farmer
George W. Helderman prominent farmer of the Oaktown community died at his home west of Sandborn at 5:00 Sunday morning after weeks of illness. Born October 9, 1871 he was 74. Survived by widow Rosetta and children Mrs. E Trink le Mrs Herschel Weaver Mrs Charles Matero Mrs Rollie Bedwell and Raymond five grandchildren and siblings Robert Lester Frank and Mrs Dora Maynard. Funeral at Bethel church north of Sandborn Tuesday at 2 pm with burial in Mt Moriah cemetery.

The body of Lt Bruce Jewel Peltier was found on an island near Pensacola Florida by Marine searchers. He was lost on Feb 7 during a routine Pensacola Marine Airbase flight and survived by his parents, a widow, a brother prisoner of war, and two sisters. The body is being returned to Aikin Funeral Home in Linton with funeral arrangements pending.

Fifth Army patrols remained active along the front despite mist and fog. In the Eighth Army sector German forces clashed with American reconnaissance units using small arms machine guns and mortars while light artillery fire continued. Greene county ex-G.L. receivers reported four tenths percent of Indiana's 45 532 January readjustment allowances under the G L Bill of Rights went to six Army and four Navy veterans in the county. Nationwide 2310 veterans received payments. 1899 Army 326 Navy 52 Marine Corps 33 Coast Guard. Funeral services were held in Bloomfield for John Edward Sachs owner of Sailor Jack's Cafe. A 50 year old native of Dugger he moved to Bloomfield in 1931 and died Friday afternoon after a stroke at his business. He was survived by wife Bonnie son Dennis father Edward Sachs and siblings Arthur, Mrs Sheehe, and Mrs Holmes. Burial followed at Odd Fellows cemetery in Bicknell.
