Maumee shovel weight disputed by Maumee workers

The Maumee Collieries shovel, buried five feet, drew disbelief over its weight. The Lintos Daily Citizen had claimed about 25 tons, but Jack Spice of Maumee company said the shovel weighs more than 1,000 tons and corrected the exaggerated figure from the newspaper report.

European stage hit to start at Grand European

The Grand theatre announces the two day engagement of Continental Flashes opening tomorrow afternoon. The show features a European atmosphere with exotic dancing dreamlike music from the South Seas bagpipes from Scotland and the Elliott sisters. Don Caper leads a sensational juggling act Lamar and Gracia present the Carioca and Rhumba acts. Draca and his wonder dogs claim to be the greatest dog act. Hoeg's 4,000 head run, holdovers 121. Cattle and calves active. steers steady at 6.50 to 10.00, heifers 5.25 to 8.60, cows 4.00 to 7.00, bulls 5.50 down. Light, medium, heavy cattle ranges and sow sheep also noted. Sheep 3,000 steady at 8.50 to 8.75, throwouts 6.50 to 8. Slaughter sheep down 5. General rise about 26 cents, market mixed by class.

Jasonville Aid Society Meeting Receives New Plans

The Jasonville MB Aid Society held a Monday afternoon meeting at Rev and Mrs Baier's home. A short session formed a calendar committee under president Mrs Albert Spatz to chart projects and report next meeting. Members showed strong interest. several local residents were noted visiting or returning from studies and events.
