Marion County Coroner Roy B. Storms ruled Monday that the death of 41 year old Mrs. Malvina Krutz of Indianapolis was murder. Her body was found January 29 in the bathtub at her home by her husband after severe beating and drowning were determined not to be accidental.
Washington officials dismissed the idea of a federal spending orgy or immediate tax cuts and projected a mid year upturn. Senate Leader Knowland backed anti recession programs, noting highway and defense spending and a post office build out as key drivers. Unemployment stood around 4.5 million in January with forecasts of decline by April.
Miss Saundra Haseman of Linton has been named to the secretariat committee for the Little United Nations Assembly at Indiana University. Ed Hall 80 of Herrin Illinois and former Linton resident died Monday after a short illness. He was a retired coal miner born in Earlington Kentucky. Survived by son Robert two daughters Pauline Vera one brother Thomas Halli and three sisters. Body to be taken to Linton for funeral Thursday at 2 PM at the Anderson Poindexter Memory Chapel burial in Fairview cemetery.
The district announces a pre school round up at the Elementary school on Friday March 7 for children who will be six by October 31 1958 eligible for first grade. Parents should enroll their child bring birth certificate and attend with the child to meet the teacher and view the classroom.

FCC examiner Sharfman testified the agency chose Public Service Television over his 1954 recommendation of Col A Frank Katzentine for Channel 10 Miami. Subcommittee probes alleged improper influence by Col George Gordon Moore and possible improper ties to commission member Mack. Harris urged any light on the matter.
Ora Green aged 80 of Worthington route one died at 9 40 this morning in the Freeman-Greene county hospital. His body was taken to Myers Funeral home at Worthington for funeral arrangements to be announced Wednesday.
The White River Valley Barbershoppers elected officers Monday at the Linton American Legion post home. Officers include Walter Sutphin president and Charles Moss vice president. About twenty Greater Indianapolis members attended, led by Ad Howard of the Indiana Kentucky district. The charter remains open until the charter program on Sunday April 13.
SP Lorenzo B. Dragon informs Northampton city council that Wesley S. Brass Camp United Spanish War Veterans has discontinued meetings in Memorial Hall due to the old age and condition of most members. He notes over 80 years old for all but one, with only four regular attendees.
Egypt and Sudan rush troops and police to a disputed border zone amid sharp charges of a land grab by President Nasser. Sudan accuses Egypt of forcing a wider Nile area into the Syrian Egyptian Republic while both nations prepare for elections and diplomatic talks.
North Korea rejected a UN demand to return the hijacked South Korean airliner carrying 34 aboard including two Americans and two Germans. In Panmunjom the North asserted the incident be settled by direct talks between Seoul and Pyongyang.
Miss Eleanor Witty of Linton leads IU Little 500 preparations for May 9 and 10. The 50 mile bicycle race supports student scholarships directed by Indiana University Foundation with executive director William S. Armstrong. Events include a tri cycle race golf jamboree variety shows dances and ice cream socials with celebrity guests. Proceeds funded 110 scholarships worth $100 each in 1957.
Charles Buddie Rogers Jr. son of Mr and Mrs Charles Rogers of Linton is a patient at Riley Hospital in Indianapolis. He entered the hospital for treatment Friday.
Three defendants were fined in the Worthington court of Mrs. Elmira Driscol. Jack L. Edwards of Indianapolis paid $16.75 for improper passing in a yellow-line zone on state road 57. Bernie Brant of Detroit was fined $16.75 for improper passing. Gerald N. Wheatley of Biz Sandy Tenn paid $21.75 for speeding on road 6n at 8v mph.
B R Minton of Tallahassee is conducting a revival at the Assembly of God church in Linton. Services run nightly at 7 until Sunday March 2, led by Rev H V Vibbert who describes Minton as having a vivid evangelistic style and uses a 30 foot chart insured for over 1000 dollars. Public is invited to attend.
The Linton-Stockton Band Parents club will meet at 7:00 PM in the home Economics room of the high school. President Mrs. James Franklin announces the gathering and refreshments will be served.
