In Brawley California a physician at Pioneers Memorial hospital reports an 11 year old girl gave birth to a six pound six ounce son on January 28. The father is named as 40 year old Hazy McCoy. Both mother and baby are reported to be doing well. The doctor noted rare cases of motherhood at age five.
UN forces strike back in Korea amid air and ground raids
United Nations troops use bayonets tanks and planes to pressure Communist forces in northwest Korea. Sabrejets from Operation Strangle damaged two MiG-15s and routed 38 more. Ground forces destroyed a forward Communist platoon near Silver Star hill and struck bunker networks along the Iron Triangle. A task force pushed northwest of Chorwon amid heavy fire.
