Pioneer resident Louisa Brewer dies after four month illness
Mrs Louisa Brewer 86 a lifelong resident of the Stafford Sandborn area died at 7 this morning at her daughter Mrs Mattie Carrolls home in Sandborn after a four month illness. She was born Sept 8 1851 Greene County daughter of Rev William and Cathryn Douthitt and married Presley Brewer Aug 28 1867 who died Nov 5 1927. Survived by three children two of Linton and Sandborn plus seven grandchildren eleven great grandchildren two great great grandchildren. Funeral at Bethel Baptist church near Sandborn Saturday at 2 PM with Rev J N A Downey of Bloomfield officiating. Burial in church cemetery. Newkirk funeral home Pleasantville in charge.

The Linton Stockton high school concert band filled the auditorium last evening in its first 1938 concert and first appearance in newly purchased royal blue uniforms trimmed in red and gold. Drummer Maurice Hays led as drum major, with Miss Sophia Ann Rector performing on xylophone between numbers. Proceeds from the concert will help defray the cost of the new outfits.
