Submarine sinks Japanese prison ship with prisoners lost

Mrs. Martha Beck of Sandborn died at her son Arley Beck’s home after several weeks of illness. She was born August 5, 1862, and was 82 years old. Survived by Arley Beck, sister Mrs. Alice Stafford, and two grandchildren. Funeral at Bethel Church Saturday at 2 PM. Burial in Bethel Cemetery.

The Navy invites men aged 17 to 50 to join a ten month radar program in Bloomington, with entry via voluntary enlistment or selective service.
