Pekin Illinois reports three children Sandra four Jackie three and Belle eleven months died in a trailer fire. Their mother had just left to visit a neighbor and the father was at work. An oil burner explosion is suspected as the cause.

In Clinton Tennessee an explosion in a Negro district injures two and damages 30 homes and a Negro restaurant. Witnesses say a dynamite packed suitcase left near Alfred Williams's home ignited, with a white car occupant suspected. two adults hurt and many families evacuated.
The White House accepted the resignation of Assistant Secretary of Defense Robert Tripp Ross effective February 20 or shortly afterward amid a furor over a conflict of interest. President Eisenhower and White House secretary James Hagerty emphasized no legal or ethical violations. Robert Doss, 31, of Evansville appeared before Vanderburgh Circuit Judge Ollie Reeves on a routine bogus check charge. He admitted stealing 8500 dollars to fund gambling on baseball and horse races. The grocery firm had no complaint as an insurer paid off the surety bond. Reeves sentenced Doss to 1 to 3 years in prison on the check charge.
In Princeton Indiana a 4 month old girl Julia Ann Russell was shot in her Oakland City trailer home. She remains near death at Evansville hospital as doctors report partial paralysis from a brain bullet. Police examine two spent bullets and a cartridge found at the scene amid ongoing strike-related violence and vandalism.

Charles White 87 of Switz City died at 7:35 p m Thursday in Freeman-Greene county hospital after a month long illness. Born near Owensburg March 30 1869 he spent most of his life in Switz City as a farmer threshing rig operator and longtime constable. Survived by wife Emma Moreland White five sons Veral Cloyce Guy Roy and Leo three brothers and four sisters plus 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral 2:00 p m Sunday at Switz City Baptist church with burial in Switz City cemetery.
The first of two day Dollar Days sales held by Linton merchants drew a good response this afternoon. Special prices run through Saturday night and many visitors used the free parking offered, a plan approved earlier this week by the Linton City Council.
