Gerald Wayne Rupert 45 lifelong Linton resident died at midnight in Freeman Greene County Hospital after a brief illness and heart attack following treatment for influenza He was a welder for Maumee Collieries for 24 years a Linton Stockton High School graduate and active in church Moose Eagles and United Mine Workers He is survived by his widow Mildred Risher Rupert two sons Jerry and Jimmie his mother Edith Rupert a brother Glenn Rupert and two sisters Car son Vint and Don Patterson A son Gordon Lee Rupert preceded him in death Burial will be in Fairview cemetery with services at 2:00 PM Wednesday at Anderson Poindexter Funeral Home.

The 10 day crisis following Mendes France’s ouster unsettles German rearmament talks and Western European Union prospects. Pineau, 50, leads the Socialists in the National Assembly and plans preliminary talks with his party before seeking approval to become premier designate.

Linton Scouts from Troop No. 50 governed the city for two hours in a staged council session. Ronald McDaniel acted as mayor while Donald Alsop served as clerk treasurer, with numerous Scouts holding city roles and proposing ideas on utilities, taxes, patrols, and public services.
The Linton Fire Department answered five alarms over the weekend with only minor damage reported. In Wichita Kansas Marvin Hefner aged 34 underwent surgery to remove a needle from his abdomen after slipping in a bathtub. He grabbed a shelf causing the needle to drop into the tub and pierced his stomach.
W. R. Sharp of Muncie reported thieves stole the two front wheels and tires from his car while parked beside a hotel in Indianapolis. The culprits replaced them with a pair of old wheels on the late model vehicle.
Two Linton brothers, Carl and Herbert Walton, were wounded in a shooting affray last Sunday. Carl, 42, was released from Freeman-Greene county hospital, while Herbert, 33, remains hospitalized yet is improving. Fred Dunning, 40, was killed in the same incident.
Snow and freezing rain blanketed Indiana with nearly a foot in South Bend and slick northern and central roads. Temperatures rise today with highs 35 to 42 and a forecast of clearing by tonight, while counties report varying snow depths and a stretch of safer travel ahead.

Harvey L Emery 74 lifelong Bloomfield resident died at 2 05 this morning at his East Church street home after a long illness. Born Sept 18 1880 in Taylor township he was the son of Charles Andrews and Martha V Quillen Emery. Survived by widow Edith May Emery three sons Bruce Charley and Herman three daughters Maxine Goodwin Frances Jarman and Dorothy Laughlin one brother Ernest Emery two sisters Vesta McLaughlin and Algie Horn nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral at Jenkins and Sons Bloomfield at 10 00 Wednesday with Rev Veil Underwood officiating burial in Grandview cemetery.
