Beverly Hills report says John Agar, ex husband of Shirley Temple, goes to court today on drunken driving charges. Agar spent a night in jail after a highway patrolman said he bumped other cars and posted $150 bail before release.

Martinsville funeral services were arranged today for Forest Jackson a 37 year old man who died from injuries sustained in an auto accident Saturday night near Waverly. Police said his car overturned leading to the fatal injuries.
Bur glars entered the Mitchell general store at Lyons by breaking a rear window and stole about 30 dollars in cash and 150 dollars worth of merchandise including 240 pounds of sugar and 15 to 20 cases of canned fruit. The haul included ten one dollar bills, five dollars in change, and 15 dollars from a metal change box. Investigators said a truck was used and multiple burglars likely involved. insurance covered the loss.

Billie Jane Maynard a 25 year old Wave deserter was held in Henry county jail pending release to Naval authorities. She was arrested at her farm home near New Castle by FBI agents after reportedly traveling with a carnival and deserting from the Naval Air Station Miami on November 20 1944.
A 51-year-old life term inmate at Attica, Charles R. Dow, confessed to killing Edith Mae Dierdorf in 1929 in Terre Haute, but prison officials doubt the claim as an attempt to break monotony. Dow's record includes kidnapping and multiple offenses. Terre Haute authorities may question him locally.
John Kennedy 65 of Linton passed away at 6:00 pm Monday at his home 289 Seventh St NE after an illness from December 1949. A Maumee Collieries shovel operator for 20 years, he was born July 22 1884 in Carbon and survived by his widow Elizabeth and two sons. Funeral services Thursday at 1 pm at Welch and Cornett with the Linton Masonic lodge participating.
Democratic leaders assure six Republicans hearings may be held on the GOP voluntary health plan tested against the administration push for national health insurance. Subcommittee chair Percy Priest says the final call rests with the health subcommittee. many Republicans reportedly not eager for hearings.
James Casper Minich 68 died at 6 10 this morning at his home 109 Sixth street southeast after four years of illness. Born in Freedom April 24 1881 he lived in Linton since 1921. A former strip mining foreman for Ayrshire Collieries Winslow he retired in 1946. Survived by wife Bertha M Minich two sisters Lida Nelson Mooresville Minnie Collens Freedom and brother Earl Minich Spencer. Funeral 2:00 Friday Welch and Cornett Funeral Home with Rev William Medcalf officiating burial in Fairview Cemetery.
Two American Mormon missionaries, Stanley E. Abbott and C Alden Johnson, both 23 and 22, were arrested by Czech authorities near the Polish border after entering a prohibited area. They disappeared January 27 in Moravia while visiting local Latter-day Saints and remained in custody as investigations proceed. The U S Embassy sought information and access, with the Czech foreign office promising a reply soon.

A stove defect caused a fire that led to the suffocation death of Edgar Harpst aged 44 in Muncie. Fire Chief Aaron Belcher reported the incident occurred yesterday and attributed the fatal outcome to the blaze.
