Mrs Mary Salesman 58 of Sullivan route 3 died suddenly this morning from a heart attack. She and her husband had traveled to Jasonville for shopping and she was seated in the car when stricken. Mr Salesman summoned an ambulance and brought her to Freeman Greene County hospital where she died before admission. Funeral arrangements to be announced.
Various admissions and discharges listed include Mrs. Phillip Buzan admitted for treatment, Mrs. Ruth Briles undergoing major surgery, Mrs. Catherine Rollison and James Bruner undergoing major operations, and two newborns born to Mrs. Rosemary Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Ruby Burch. Several patients were dismissed and staff thank local organizations for Valentine favors.
The Lin ton Council of Women will hold its regular meeting Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the local public library. The American Legion Auxiliary will conduct the program.
Linton high school beat the Dugger Bulldogs 69-39 at Dugger gym. Linton led 19-5 after the first quarter and 38-15 at halftime, then stretched to 54-31 after three. Woolsey, Peterson, and Sanders led Linton with 17, 16, and 13 points. Dugger’s Butler Borders and Spinks scored 11, 9, and 9. Linton reserves won 28-27 in the curtain-raiser.
Linton police and state police officer Ollie Hayek nabbed two youths from Dagger and one from Sullivan for stealing a vending machine from Sportsmen's Bar. The trio allegedly hauled the machine to a nearby coal mine and obtained about $1.50. A tip from a resident led to arrests. they were released on own recognizance, with petit larceny charges pending.
The United States recalls Ambassador Arthur Bliss Lane from Warsaw in a cooling move after Polish elections, signaling strained ties with the Soviet influenced government. Officials say severing all relations is unlikely, and a new ambassador may wait until policy toward Poland is clarified. Secretary Marshall to address the issue at a 3 p m news conference.
Police linked blood smeared fingerprints and a torn black button to a motive less killer who stabbed Ruth Peterson, 29, in her dining room after a bowling match. Sgt. Thomas Laffey from Chicago joined local investigators. a home made mini hawk and a 10 cent card punch were ruled out as clues. The school burglary nearby was deemed unrelated.
The Marco Net team won last night over New Lebane with Willis Garrett scoring 19 points and James Moody 15. Bob Harbin added ten as Marion Moody and Harold May each contributed two, while Phegler led the losers with 13 points. The Indians pulled away in the final 45 seconds with a nine point burst to seal the win.
Walter Glenn Ransom of Edinburg Texas a 26 year old ex convict surrendered after a wild three day manhunt. He said a collision with a convoy led to a dispute over damage then a gun was fired. Ransom allegedly kidnapped two filling station attendants and stole four cars before abandoning them as authorities closed in along the Red river near the Oklahoma border.
A sudden wave of mass strikes by civil servants paralyzed Paris and large parts of France. Police, radio stations, and public transport halted as clerical and typographical workers joined, with government offices closing at 4 p.m. and millions idled across the country.
John Beatty age 75 of Gilmour community died at 2 AM at Glenburn Li- Evenng Fest home in Linton. His wife preceded him in death about forty years ago. Survived by three brothers Marion Beatty Jasonville Silas Beatty Shelburn and Monroe Beatty Worthington. Body to McClanchan Funeral home Jasonville. The legislative budget committee rejected a proposal to cap the reduction in President Truman's budget estimates at 4.15 billion dollars. The government also sold the Big Inch and Little Big Inch pipeline systems to Texas Eastern Transmission Co. of Houston for 143.13 million dollars to transport natural gas.
Two new cases were filed in the circuit court at Bloomfield this morning. Virginia Doring and Hazel Thomas vs Delmar Bland in ejectment. Pryor Alred and Burnett Alred vs Ralph Long et al in replevin.
Mrs Zanana Sims has accepted a position with a Chicago blouse manufacturing company as a designer. Mr Sims will work from her home and send models to the Chicago concern for approval.
A come as you are party will be held at Tea Town Hall on Monday at 6 30 p m by members of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. A covered dish supper will be served and all members are urged to bring their own table service.
R E Osbon aged 54, longtime Bicknell News manager, died February 11 in San Diego California. He had moved to Bicknell from Jarenville and funeral services were held in Yuma Arizona.

Daviess County officials and 59 residents urged against a zoning amendment in a House committee hearing on a Senate planning and zoning bill. They argued the amendment would allow coal strip mine operators to buy land countywide, conflicting with current bans on mining in farming areas.
Chicago police announce the first case in a drive against lax parental supervision. Ethyl Miller, 35, is charged with contributing to the delinquency of her son Lyle, 15, who quit school and plans to stay with his grandfather. Louise, 16, also placed in a delinquent school. The husband says he left his job as a truck driver because of his wife’s drinking and neglect.
The Linton Elks lodge will host a party at 8 30 p m Saturday evening at the lodge hall to benefit the bowling team. Members of the order and their families are invited. Refreshments will be served cabaret style and a local orchestra will provide musical numbers.

Mrs Mary Doige learns of the death of her granddaughter Viinia Alson in Germany where she had joined her husband Lt Thomas Alson, stationed with the US Army. The 2 year old daughter of Mr and Mrs George Miller of Detroit survives along with her parents and grandmother. Funeral services will be in Detroit.
