Mrs Wallace Hunter of Worthington admitted for observation Monday. Jerry Lee Henderson, 3, son of Mr and Mrs Hggry Henderson of Switz City, had an appendectomy Monday evening. Mrs Earl L Rogerson of Jasonville admitted last night. Carol Padgett of Coal City underwent a major operation Monday night. Mrs Dora Moss of Jasonville admitted for observation. Harley Burcham of Bloomfield dismissed today. Wendell Davis of Springville dismissed this morning. Richard Thornton transferred to Union hospital in Terre Haute. Mrs Betty Davis Trusty dismissed Monday afternoon.
Maggie Deeds 75, a Randolph county farmer, posted 10 000 bond after being charged with assault and battery with intent to commit a felony for fatally beating her 83 year old husband Millard Deeds with a club. Neighbor James Storey found the unconscious man after a violent quarrel in their Winchester home.
Byran Branson died in a South Sandborn auto crash Sunday evening. His body was taken to Welch and Cornett Funeral Home. The note mentions turning bugs to distribute wear uniformly.
Mrs. Robert Wells was informed by the War Department that her husband PFC Robert Wells is missing in action in France since January 23. He was 33, a Linton Stockton high school graduate, worked at Wells Market, enlisted December 28, 1942, trained at Fort Benning, and was sent overseas last July. He is survived by his wife Lucille and their three month old daughter in Linton.
Mr and Mrs William Wilson of 309 C Street Northeast, long confined to their homes due to illness, are reported to be slowly improving.
After a week’s rest Coach Gar land Ladson’s Miners travel to Switz City for a vital matchup as they chase another win. Following their Western Indiana Conference title victory over Sullivan the team enjoyed a holiday from practice. Tonight Dudley replaces Perigo in the forward spot with Moehlman Friedman McNew and Woolsey in the starting five. The B team opens at seven with the varsity at eight. Support for the home squad is urged.
In South Bend the Joseph County coroner investigates the death of Ray Balo a 17 year old from Columbus Ohio who was struck by an automobile while walking along a highway He had been visiting relatives near South Bend. Six downtown Evansville restaurants adopt Meatless Monday policy to run Fridays weekly amid supply concerns. Loganport speaker Hobart Creighton War saw Indiana House of Representatives leads Cass County Lincoln Day banquet.
A pair of tornadoes swept western and central Alabama and eastern Mississippi killing forty three people. The first storm struck near Meridian Mississippi then moved into Alabama, with multiple fatalities including two trainmen near Livingston. The second tornado hit near Montgomery, with 26 bodies found in the city and hundreds injured and housed by the Red Cross.
Mrs Harry Barger has entered Mary Sherman hospital in Sullivan for major surgery.
The Roosevelt Stalin Churchill trio announced a plan to draft a world security treaty in San Francisco on April 25, forming a UN conference framework based on the Dumbarton Oaks pattern. They reported final agreement on the treaty's framework and war aims for Germany, seeking Senate action by mid summer.
