A battered, fragmented report describes motorists trapped by a historic blizzard. Photos show snowed in cars along a highway near Minneapolis and drifts reaching up to sixty to seventy feet, with driveways to garages abandoned to the fury of the storm.
Willis Thomas of Allen Kentucky, son of the late Professor Roscoe Thomas, joins the CCC. He resembles his father in features and joins the camp to aid finances for his mother Mary Thoras. His father was killed in a 1934 train accident. His father's book Among the Hills and Mountains of Kentucky has wide circulation in camp. The work chronicles eastern Kentucky life from 1780 to modern times, noting mountains, roads, stills, and early industry. Willis plans to pursue education opportunities after CCC and try camp journalism.
Bloomfield residents and visitors frequent Indianapolis on business. Mrs. Albert McLaughlin and Miss Betty and Miss Margaret Rose McLaughlin are tied to nursing training and department store work in the city. Mrs. Olive Collins, Mrs. Claude Coker and two children called on Mrs. Claude Johnson of Linton. Tres Poindexter of Sandborn, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Myers and daughter visited Clifford Myers over the weekend. Tennison Wil returned from Bloomington where employed. Mrs. Ray Golliker and daughters Ruby and Mary of coe visited Emma Cross. Lela Boyd of Linton, florist Lizzie Davis, and Alice Boyd are noted among weekend visitors.
