Farmers Notified Of Loan Deadline In Greene County

The Greene county ASC announces the final date to accept corn loans and purchase agreements is March 31. Loans and purchase agreements will not be accepted after this date. The loan rate is $1.62 per bushel. Farmers should contact the ASC office at post office box 71 in Bloomfield. The deadline applies to the angoumois moth area including Greene County.

Three Linton Teens Admit Cabin Looting

Three Linton teenagers ages 15 16 and 17 confessed to grand larceny for looting three cabins in the past two weeks with items valued at about 250 dollars. The arrests were announced by Police Chief Bill Cole and the case involved Greene County Sheriff Bill Branstetter and Prosecuting Attorney Paul Haywood. Authorities recovered rods reels blankets quilts sheets towels a cooler silverware records tools and more and said the youths planned to build a river camp. Names were withheld due to juvenile status and the cabins belonged to Asel and Bob Lemonds Marl Grounds and Lawrence Stevens in Linton South Linton.

Quarantine Ordered for Greene County Dogs

A countywide dog quarantine in Greene County is ordered by Indiana state veterinarian Dr. Joe Green after rabies cases. Effective Feb 9 for at least 120 days, dogs found at large may be impounded for three days, with redemption costs set by the County Board of Commissioners.

Former Dugger Man Expires at Merom

Wilbur J. Coyner 80 of Merom and former Dugger resident died at noon Thursday at his daughter Nora Pierson’s Merom home after a long illness. A retired brick mason, he is survived by two daughters Laura Scott and Mary Coyner, two sons Paul and Emil, a brother Earl, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are at Alexander Funeral Home Sullivan with service at 2:00 Saturday by Rev. George Jackson. burial in Merom Cemetery.

Clyde Grass Dies at 48. Rites Planned in Linton

Clyde W Grass 48 a coal mine superintendent died suddenly at his home 340 East Vincennes street after years of illness. Born Carlisle Oct 21 1906 he lived in Linton about 30 years and worked 27 years for Sherwood Templeton Coal Co as Robin Hood mine superintendent. He worshipped at Linton First Christian church served as deacon and belonged to Linton Elks and Kiwanis. Survived by widow Eva Belle Cox Grass a daughter Rosemary Golob two brothers four sisters and four grandchildren. Funeral Sunday 2:00 pm at the Linton First Christian church with burial in Carlisle’s LOCF cemetery. Local Elks to conduct service.

Jasonville Club Plans Evening of Recreation Trip

Members of the Jasonville Boys club will visit the Terre Haute Boys club for an evening of recreation tonight. About fifty Jasonville members will play basketball rifle shooting pingpong checkers pocket billiards four goal shooting and spot shooting at Terre Haute.
