The Linton City Council raised Mayor Bull’s pay to 1600 a year effective Jan 1 1941 and set clerical wages at 75 monthly. They kept the gas minimum at 150 while a proposed 1 decline was rejected.
The scholastic honor roll for Newberry grade and high school was announced. Named on the roll are Evelyn Mottern in Grade Four. Mary Autrey and Levon York in Grade Six. David Thomas in Grade Seven. Charles Wesner in Grade Eight. Rex Malone and Harry Mullis in Grade Nine. Peggy Thomas in Grade Twelve.
David Terhune 95 a longtime Lone Tree area resident died Tuesday at the Murray Kentucky home of his daughter Mrs Glenn Ashcraft. Funeral services set for 2 pm Thursday at Providence Church Smith Township with burial in Lebanon Cemetery. Survivors include daughter and three grandchildren Damon Myers Esther Burris and Verna Harrah.
Several members of the Linton Rotary club travel to Brazil for a dinner honoring International President Pereira at Brazil high school gymnasium at 6 30 tonight. Pereira will be principal speaker as Brazil Rotary club welcomes Rotarians from across the state with organ music and group songs.
Rita Rogers twelve year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Rogers of I street northwest underwent an appendectomy this afternoon. Mrs Lester Williams of Jasonville underwent a major operation this morning. Ray Pearson of Bloomfield route four submitted to a major operation this morning. A daughter weighing eight pounds fourteen ounces was born this morning to Mrs Ray Moulden of Worthington by Caesarean section named Barbara Ann. Mrs Roy Williams was dismissed this morning. Titus Guthrie of Clay City was dismissed Tuesday afternoon. Miss Barbara Martin was taken to her home in Worthington this morning.
Greene County attorney John Todd plans to travel to Indiana to oppose a proposed integrated state bar. A Spanish Swindle warning from Postmaster Charles L Wolford describes a scam using letters from abroad offering a share of a supposedly recovered valise. Local residents are advised to ignore such letters and report them to the post office.
California highway patrol radio engineers James H. Allen and N V Bramley report a rushed patrol branch office plan lacked buried wire provisions for a transmitter. The site also proved too small for the vertical aerial and underground network, prompting a request to use a city farm and gravel bed as the transmitter site.
Detectives on Star Island search Roe Wells's Miami Beach home as they recover cash and jewelry tied to the $775,000 theft. Early reports say 22 thousand dollar bills and other denominations were located, with $20,000 reportedly found in bedding before later findings.
