Arthur Bechtel Dies at 74 in Linton Indiana
Arthur Merritt Bechtel 74, retired coal miner and former Linton City employee, died at 7:36 am at his 389 F Street NE home after six months of declining health. Born November 4 1881 north of Linton, he spent his life in the area and worked in local mines before eight years with the Linton city water department. Survived by widow Effie Louise Smith Bechtel, son Charles Bechtel, five daughters, two brothers, and multiple grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements set at Anderson-Pointexter Memory Chapel with service Monday at 2:00 pm, Rev. Royden Read officiating, burial in View cemetery.
