Charles Barnard Dies This Morning in Linton Route 2
Charles Barnard died at his home on Linton route 2 at 4 o clock this morning after an eight day illness. He was born July 2 1887 in Mc Henry Kentucky, age 59 years 7 months 5 days. Surviving are his wife Juanice and nine children Harold Jane Faye Deloris Buster Gerry Charlotte Hyla Jean and Peggy all of Gary plus seven brothers and sisters. The body was taken to Newkirk Funeral Home Pleasantville then to Burris Chapel for 2 o'clock funeral services led by Rev Stanley Sipes. Burial in the church cemetery.

Fire damages Lyons Christian Church but services continue
Fire damaged the Lyons Christian church building with an estimated 1900 dollars in damage. Roof shingles over wooden shingles caught fire, flames were checked by Lyons Fire Department, and services will be held in the basement with Sunday School at 9:30, morning worship at 10:30, and a Young People’s meeting at 6:30. A note of thanks was issued to Robert Fry and the fire department.

Three Members of Family Killed in Bus Explosion
In Villa Grove Illinois an itinerant family was killed and a fourth member injured when a gasoline blast wrecked a bus they used as a portable repair shop. Coroner Dr. R W Taylor said the victims included Mr and Mrs Jack Owen and a younger brother. a 12 year old boy Robe Owen survived.
