One Day Poultry Schools Scheduled in Greene County

Greene County will host three one day poultry schools on February 16 at Linton Cincinnati and Mineral City. County Agent Sexson and Paul Farlow will lead sessions at Union Church Mineral Church and the Linton Public Library. Morning sessions start at 10 00 am with afternoon at 1 16 pm and a noon basket dinner.

Bloomfield man shoots at group in Dwight area

Feb 7 Bloomfield report says Dr T R Cook shot and slightly wounded Peta Powelly amid a car trip to Dwight after a garage stop to fix lights. Deputies Amos Emery Ray Wymer and Powell were in the party. Cook allegedly woke in car and fired, Powell hit with a flesh wound. Powell hospitalized then sent home. Cook was taken to Dwight. motive linked to alleged temporary mental coma.

February Weather Forecast Shows Warm Spell Then Cold Snap

A February forecast predicts a warm spell from the 8th to the 12th lifting memories of winter. A northwest cold snap near the 18th may drop temperatures toward zero for about two days, followed by another warm period from the 17th to the 21st with bright sunshine.

X Ray Shows Clarence Gillette’s Broken Back After Mine Accident

Clarence Gillette, hurt in a mine accident six weeks ago, traveled to Terre Haute Saturday for X ray tests. The images show a broken back with two crushed bones high near the shoulders. He is at home now and able to walk, though his recovery has been slower than expected.

Limited press dispatches report February 7, 1918 as forty four bodies of 101 missing Americans aboard the Tuscania were recovered from rocks fifteen miles from the disaster site. British spring drive predicted by passengers aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam voyage to New York.
