Authorities investigated fumes as the cause of death for nine year old Frances Boone and poisoning that also felled five family members in Terre Haute Indiana. The girl died yesterday two days after two rooms in her home were painted. Her mother Mary Boone 27 grandparents and two other relatives were treated and recovering.
The Alpha Bible Class of the Linton First Methodist will meet at 7 o clock Thursday evening with Mrs. Don Smith as hostess. Normally meetings are on Friday but this week’s gathering was moved to Thursday.

Members and friends of Rev Reno Tacoma and the First Baptist church invite a basket dinner after morning worship next Sunday. Tacoma leaves for Lawrenceburg after several months with the church. Rev and Mrs Rayden Rae will move into the parsonage Feb 13 and Rae preaches Feb 18. Public invited. bring a well filled basket and own table service.
The Ministrel show planned at Midland High School this week has been postponed because of bad weather, an official announcement indicates.
Two divorce actions were filed in the Greene circuit court clerk's office at Bloomfield. The cases are Kenneth Mullins versus Rosella Mullins and Frances Allen versus Ernest Allen.
Henry E. Fields 64, a longtime Coalmont coal miner, died Sunday at Clay County hospital Brazil. Born July 24, 1886 in Clay County he lived in Coalmont his life. Survived by widow Velora four daughters and five sons. Funeral at McClanahan Funeral Home Jasonville Tuesday at 10 with Rev. Bert Sanders. Burial in Sanders cemetery.
Members of three Linton parent-Teachers associations join for a Founders Day meeting at 7:30 this evening in the Linton Stockton high school auditorium. A playlet Deep Are The Roots will feature cast members from all PTA groups. Musical numbers and a display at Cooper's Cleaners on North Main advertise the event. Public invited.
Four men were held today in connection with the death of Lloyd Dowden Grigsby, 44, who died of burns after a cigarette ignited his clothing at a drinking party Saturday night. He expired at Vermillion county hospital.
The Greene circuit court at Bloomfield begins its February term on February 19 during court vacation. The trial term will run as scheduled with proceedings to be announced by the local tribunal.

Claire Chennault in Hong Kong.

Secretary of the Treasury John W. Snyder proposed a 20 percent tax on new autos and 25 percent on radios and appliances to fund a $10 billion rearmament program. The plan boosts individual income taxes four percentage points per bracket and raises corporation rates, with further hikes in alcohol, tobacco, gasoline, and other excise taxes.

About 600 CIO United Auto Workers at the Wayne Works plant planned to vote today on whether to accept a negotiated agreement. International union president Pat Murphy called the terms satisfactory, but ratification rests with the workers. Details of the pact were not disclosed.
