Larry Lee Rose eight of Worthington died of a neck wound from a .22 rifle disassembled by his father in their trailer at Buskirk Trailer Park. Coroner Delmar Hasler and State Policeman James O Smith ruled accidental death. The boy, a second grader at Worthington Jefferson school, died at Freeman Greene hospital about 3:49 PM. He is survived by his parents Wayne and Wilma Beasley Rose and siblings Wayne Rose Jr Sharon Elaine and Karen. Funeral services are set for Switz City Pentecostal church with burial in Switz City cemetery.
Indiana experiences mild February start with highs around 35 to 48 degrees and overnight lows of 17 to 26. The five day outlook shows temperatures averaging 2 to 6 degrees above normal with scattered rain expected Tuesday night or Wednesday and again Friday.

Ralph Moore 65 lifelong Sullivan county resident died after a short illness at his Hickory home west of Dugger. He was World War I veteran and United Mine Workers member survived by widow two sons three grandchildren five brothers and one sister. Funeral arrangements set at Hickory Methodist church with burial in Hickory cemetery.
Police say Lee Grant Averitte 25 admitted firing a shotgun that killed William H. Harris 29 in front of the Tropicana Club after an argument over an arrest warrant filed earlier in the day by Blanche Jenkins 26. Jenkins claimed Averitte threatened to kill her.
