Frankie Carbo a 60 year old former underworld boxing kingpin must serve a 25 year term for extortion and conspiracy. Judge George H Boldt in San Francisco ruled the sentence valid despite claims the original judge died before completion. Carbo known as Mr Grey faced a 10000 dollar fine and a 40 year violent crime record. The case tied to an attempt to muscle in on Don Jordan’s earnings.
West German war crimes court acquitted Otto Hunsche as an aide to Adolf Eichmann and sentenced Herman Krumey to five years for involvement in the extermination of about 300,000 Hungarian Jews. Krumey will not serve further time. the prosecution protested. Eichmann, executed in 1962, called them his closest associates.

Demonstrations by Negroes continued in Selma and nearby areas of Alabama with about 1,300 arrests in the ongoing desegregation drive. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was jailed in Selma, while Gov. George Wallace visited the city but did not address racial troubles. In Jackson Mississippi, CRS representatives prepared for talks on racial harmony amid threats of a large protest. Meanwhile, other cities reported related actions and hearings on civil rights issues.
Indiana's 1965 traffic fatality toll stood at 100 today down from 100 by removals and additions. Robert M. Cravens of Solberry and Meinard Klein of Vincennes were removed after rulings that altered whether their deaths counted as traffic fatalities. Cravens died when a snow clearing tractor overturned. Klein was killed when a truck stalled on train tracks and a pedestrian death was reclassified. Maricy Wojcik of Michigan City faced a pending decision after a minor accident. Harry Van Nezs of Kokomo was added after being struck beside his auto following a sideswipe."
In Loogootee Indiana a 17 year old mother Cathy Downey and her 4 month old son Roger died from carbon monoxide poisoning after a faulty gas heater. Husband Roger Downey aged 20 survived after waking from over 18 hours sleep and stumbling to a hardware store to alert his father. Autopsy shows high carbon monoxide in the mother and baby. police note prior heater trouble. The deaths occurred Tuesday morning with the couple dying Monday night around 10 pm.

About 100 strippers across nearly 20 clubs in Soho form a union after three workers were fired over demand for higher pay. A strike at three clubs began with six shows in a 12 hour day for $47 weekly. some clubs offered extra pay and shorter hours. Barbara Van Loren of the Sunset Strip backs higher base pay of $56 weekly.

London Prime Minister Harold Wilson pressed his economic program after a stormy Commons session. A Conservative no confidence motion failed by 17, while he announced scrapping a $560 million British military transport aircraft project in favor of a U.S. rival to ease the defense budget. He outlined plans to investigate mergers and price fixing and defended 100 days in office as a prelude to longer efforts.
Fire completely gutted the interior of Marshall Lee’s house near Sandborn at 1:45 a m Tuesday. Lee saved only a few clothes and some papers as Linton and Sandborn fire departments battled the blaze in sub zero weather, saving only the walls and roof.
INDIANAPOLIS Republican minority lawmakers unveiled a congressional reapportionment plan claiming better adherence to the one man one vote standard. The plan assigns districts between Democrats and Republicans, outlines county groupings for districts three through ten, and notes deviations and political aims as part of a nonpartisan tone.
Soviet sources say the Soviet Union rejects fresh four power proposals to decide German reunification. They insist reunification is a matter for the two Germanies and see no point in talks without new elements. Western allies and West Germany refuse to recognize East Germany and hold the four powers responsible.
Dallas attorney Joe Tannehill says he will argue Jack Ruby's case before the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals in Austin despite being fired. Ruby's sister Eva Grant fired him, while Tonahill vows to proceed, possibly to the U S Supreme Court, as the defense ships hundreds of pounds of records to Austin for the March 10 appeal.
Joe Nixon of Detroit formerly of Linton is reported seriously ill at Mt. Carmel Hospital West Oates River Detroit Michigan.
Bulletins say Black Hudson, from Hudson Linton, was taken to Freeman-Greene County hospital after setting his clothing on fire by dousing his clothing with lighter fluid and striking a match. County Rescue unit transported him. condition not known at press time.
In Philadelphia the 24 day East and Gulf Coast dock strike deepened as talks stalled after a 13 hour session. The International Longshoremen's Association demanded higher terms and shippers withdrew a key offer. A nine hour break was granted before bargaining resumes at noon. ILA President Gleason said final settlement may hinge on progress here and on President Johnson's call to dock workers.
Mrs William Cross underwent surgery Monday morning at Kendrick hospital in Mooresville. She is reported to be recovering satisfactorily.
